The Famitsu Awards 2015 winners have been announced.



The Famitsu Awards, sponsored by the comprehensive game information media "Famitsu," are awards for outstanding games, people, and game makers that are highly supported by users and have made a significant contribution to the development of the game industry, as voted for by readers of the Famitsu Group media. The awards have been held annually since 2006 ("Famitsu Award 2005"), and this year marks the 11th award. Eligible games are games that were released or distributed in Japan between January 1, 2015 and December 31, 2015, or games that were in service as of 2015, regardless of hardware type.


The voting results showed that the Game of the Year award went to Nintendo Corporation's "Splatoon," a blockbuster game that has been the No. 1 selling Wii U software game of all time in Japan, and was especially highly rated for its wide range of gameplay for everyone from beginners to advanced players, as well as for the implementation of collaborative events in and outside of the game.
