Fullmetal Alchemist" is to be made into a live-action movie! Starring Ryosuke Yamada and a superb cast including Tsubasa Honda, Dean Fujioka and Yasuko Matsuyuki!
A live-action film adaptation has been officially announced from " Fullmetal Alchemist," to be released in winter 2017.
Fullmetal Alchemist" is a masterpiece by manga artist Hiromu Arakawa, which was serialized in the monthly Shonen Gan Gan magazine from 2001 to 2010.The story depicts the tumultuous adventures and growth of Edward, the older brother who lost part of his body at the cost of "human alchemy," the greatest taboo in alchemy, and Alphonse, the younger brother who lost his entire body and had his soul fixed in a suit of armor. The series has sold more than 70 million copies worldwide, an unprecedented record.
The fantasy world of alchemy was said to be impossible to visualize in Japan, and there were rumors of a Hollywood adaptation, but now Warner Brothers Pictures, the company behind the "Harry Potter," "Rurouni Kenshin," and "DEATH NOTE" series, has decided to take on the live-action film adaptation. The film will be shot on location in Italy in pursuit of the world view, and a huge budget will be invested in action and CG images, making it an unparalleled movie on a scale befitting an epic story.
The cast includes Ryosuke Yamada (Hey! Say! JUMP) as Edward, Tsubasa Honda as Winry Rockbell, a mechanical armorer and childhood friend of Ed and his friends, Dean Fujioka as Colonel Roy Mustang, known as the "Alchemist of the Flame," Ryuta Sato as Commander Hughes, Mustang's best friend, and Ryota Sato as Commander Hughes. The National Alchemist, Tucker, who plays an important role in the film, is played by Yo Oizumi, Dr. Marco is played by Jun Kunimura, and General Hakuro is played by Fumiyo Kohinata. The homunculus (artificial human) side that stands in the way of Ed and Al's adventures will be played by Yasuko Matsuyuki as Rust, Kanata Hongo as Envy, Shinji Uchiyama as Gratney, and Kenjiro Ishimaru as Cornello, who is in cahoots with the homunculus.
The film will be directed by Fumihiko Sori, who directed the 2002 film "Ping Pong," which was a huge hit. He commented on the film adaptation, "I participated in the "Ping Pong" project from the planning stage, and the film strongly reflected my own thoughts and feelings. I would like to work as one team to make sure that this wonderful story, which depicts the worldview and themes of "Fullmetal Alchemist" and the "truth of life," can be seen by people of all ages.
