Intel's new "Broadwell-E" CPUs are now available. The top-end model has 10 cores/20 threads and sells for over 200,000 yen.

The new Core i7 series, Broadwell-E, LGA2011-v3 compatible, is now available from Intel.

The lineup includes four models: Core i7-6950X Extreme Edition, Core i7-6900K, Core i7-6850K, and Core i7-6800K.




The "Broadwell-E" is the successor to the "Haswell-E " LGA2011-v3 Core i7 series released in August 2014, and features the first 10-core model in the consumer CPU lineup.


Other differences from the "Haswell-E" include a 22nm to 14nm manufacturing process, DDR4-2400 memory support from DDR4 2133, and an increase in maximum cache capacity from 20MB to 25MB. In addition, the number of PCI Express 3.0 lanes is 40 for the Core i7-6950X/6900K/6850K and 28 for the Core i7-6800K only.

The supported platforms are the same as before, and LGA2011-v3 compatible motherboards released for " Haswell-E" can also be used by updating the BIOS.

The Core i7-6950X Extreme Edition has 10 cores/20 threads running at 3 GHz (up to 3.5 GHz in Turbo mode), 25 MB of cache capacity, and a 140 W TDP.

The Core i7-6900K is clocked at 3.2GHz (up to 3.7GHz in Turbo) with 8 cores/16 threads, 20MB of cache, and a TDP of 140W.

The Core i7-6850K is clocked at 3.6 GHz (up to 3.8 GHz in Turbo) with 6 cores/12 threads, 15 MB of cache, and a TDP of 140 W.

The Core i7-6800K is clocked at 3.4 GHz (up to 3.6 GHz in Turbo) with 6 cores/12 threads, 15 MB of cache, and a TDP of 140 W.
