SAGAMATSURI ~Saga is the best !!!!!! ~is a collaboration project of the Saga Prefecture's "SAGAPRIZE! a project for local development through the dissemination of information in Saga Prefecture. Saga Prefecture is home to "Nijinomatsubara," one of the three largest pine groves in Japan, as well as many other places and products named after pine trees.

The illustrations presented here depict the six children dressed up as Karatsu-kunchi, Yobuko no Ika, Princess Sayohime, and Saga Beef, all of which are associated with Saga Prefecture, and will be used in the limited collaboration goods, stamp rally, and wrapped buses during the period from July 25 to August 28. In addition, an opening ceremony featuring the six children and Saga Prefecture Governor Yamaguchi Yoshiyoshi will be held at Karatsu Furusato Kaikan Alpino Hall on July 25 from 10:30 a.m. Admission to the venue will be by shuffle drawing.


Osomatsu x Karatsu Kunchi & Sake
Karatsu Kunchi is the largest autumn festival in Karatsu, held in November at Karatsu Shrine.
More than 500,000 people visit every year, and the whole town is filled with excitement. Oosomatsu, dressed in his Karatsu-kunchi Hikiko costume and holding a bottle of Saga Prefecture's prized sake, looks as if he is about to say "Enya, Enya" in full spirit.

Karamatsu x Niji-no-Matsubara
Nijinomatsubara is a national special scenic spot and one of the three most beautiful pine groves in Japan. About 1 million black pine trees grow in clusters along the coast of Karatsu Bay, stretching about 4.5 km long and 1 km wide.
The Karamatsu pine trees are dressed in suits, holding pine branches in their mouths and pine cones in their hands. The local people carefully protect the pine trees, so please do not break the actual pine branches.

Choromatsu x Karatsu ware
Along with Rakuyaki and Hagiyaki, Karatsuyaki is one of Japan's three major tea ceremony ceramics. Karatsu is an important place in "Hizen, the Home of Japanese Porcelain," which is recognized as a Japanese Heritage Site, as the place where Hizen pottery began.

Ichimatsu x Yobuko Squid

Jyushimatsu x Princess Sayohime
The legend of Princess Sayohime Matsuura is said to be one of the three most tragic love stories in Japan, and is told in the Karatsu and Higashimatsuura regions. The 14-matsu tree represents Princess Sayohime, who lamented the loss of her lover who was leaving for the Korean Peninsula, and waved her fin from the top of Kagamiyama.

Saga Beef is one of the best Japanese black cattle, boasting top-class meat and quality among all brand-name beef in Japan. It is nurtured in the fertile land of Saga and by the love of beef farmers. It is arranged in a mockingly cute costume that is typical of Todomatsu.
