The first key visual from the anime film "BLAME!
BLAME!" is the debut work of Tsutomu Nibe, the author of "Knights of Sidonia," a science fiction manga that was serialized in the monthly magazine Afternoon from 1997 to 2003. Set in a dark future where humans are exterminated and eliminated as "illegal residents," the manga depicts the lonely and dangerous journey of Kirii, an explorer in a super-giant "hierarchical city. The series has gained a strong following in Japan and abroad forits unique worldview, overwhelming sense of scale, and depiction of hard-hitting action scenes. 20 years after its serialization, an animated feature film version has finally been decided.
The film is directed by Hiroyuki Seshimo and animated by Polygon Pictures, a production team familiar with the "Knights of Sidonia" series. Tsutomu Nibei himself will participate as a supervisor and play a central role in the creative direction, including scenario and character design.
