The recent announcement that a live-action film adaptation and that Shun Oguri will play the main character, Gintoki Sakata, has taken over real-time searches and trending words on the Internet. Now, the second main cast has been revealed. Shinpachi Shimura, who works at Gintoki's "Bankotsuya," will be played by Masaki Sugata, and Kagura, a survivor of the Yato tribe, will be played by Kanna Hashimoto, who will dye her own hair orange like in the original.

Shinpachi's older sister Tae is played by Masami Nagasawa, Gintoki's childhood friend and former ally Kotaro Katsura is played by Masaki Okada, the owner of the Karakurido, Gentai Hiraga is played by Tsuyoshi Muro, the director of the Shin-Sen-Gumi Isao Kondo is played by Kankuro Nakamura, the most popular man in the Shin-Sen-Gumi, Jushiro Hijikata is played by Yuya Yagira, and the sleaze Sogo Okita is played by Ryo Yoshizawa.
