Pyxis, a unit of Moe Toyoda and Miki Ito, suddenly makes its major debut with a full-length album!

Moe Toyoda and Miki Ito, popular voice actresses and members of StylipS, are set to make their major label debut as the two-piece unit Pyxis. Pyxis is the first artist to be released by Rokkan Music, a label specializing in anime and voice actors, which is a joint venture between TAICHIKU Entertainment and ZERO-A. Pyxis is not a single, but a full 10-song album, which is a great honor for the staff. The fact that Pyxis is debuting not as a single artist, but as a full 10-song album, shows the staff's enthusiasm for the project. For Toyoda and Ito, Pyxis is first and foremost a unit they enjoy. We spoke with the two, who have made a good start in a favorable environment!

We discussed with them that we would work steadily.

─ You are making your major label debut with this album, but you formed the group one year ago, right?

Ito: It was May 17 last year (2015).

Toyoda We held an event called Pyxis Party, a joint live performance by Ito Miki and Toyoda Moe, and we had so much fun singing together that we suddenly announced on stage, "Let's form a unit.

Toyota: The Pyxis unit was born completely from our idea that we wanted to work together.

─ What did you think the two of you could do together?

ITOH: We are colleagues at the same office. We have spent a lot of time together, and we have also worked hard together in other units, so we have a strong bond. It is only because we are the two of us that there is a sparkle in the air. I'm embarrassed to say it myself (laughs), but I thought I could show you the two of us without any decorations.

Toyoda: It's like a life-size unit.

───Pyxis was the title of the joint live performance at first, wasn't it?

Toyoda Yes, "Pyxis" is an ancient Greek word meaning a box for storing jewels or other important things, and I wanted to make the venue of our live concert a jewelry box. I wanted to make the live venue a jewelry box. I thought it would be wonderful if we could make ourselves and our fans sparkle with our songs.

Ito: After the live concert, when we talked about "What should we name the unit? We decided on "Pyxis" as the name of the unit, because it seemed to fit perfectly.

───In February of this year, we held our first one-man live concert, and from April, we have been holding "Pyxis no Yozora no Shita de Meeting" (on Cho! A&G+) and "Pyxis no Kirakira Daisakusen! (Nico Nico Douga). You are expanding your activities more and more, aren't you?

Ito: I have been working hard since I was an independent artist, and I have been asked to be a regular contributor to magazines. That's why I am happy to make my major label debut.

Toyoda: Thankfully, we have had many opportunities to be active since our indie days, and on top of that, we are making our major label debut, so expectations are high.

Ito (looking at Mr. Toyoda) When we formed the band, we talked about working steadily, didn't we (laughs)?

(Laughs) Yes, we agreed that it was important for both of us to enjoy ourselves first.

Ito If we did that, someone would find us.

─ ─ So many people found us right away (laughs).

Ito Yes, they found us within a year.

───And your major label debut was suddenly an album, wasn't it?

Ito: That's right. It is a voluminous album with 9 new songs. At the time of our first live concert, we didn't have many songs of our own, so we played a lot of covers, but with this album, we have more songs at once. The recording schedule was a mad rush, so when the album was completed, I felt that it was our album.

─ The only existing song on the album is the ninth track, "Tokimeki Sensation! and this song was performed for the first time at the first live concert, wasn't it?

Toyoda: Yes, it was. It is a song that is very popular with the fans, who get very excited and wave their towels around at the live performances.
