TV Anime "Taboo Tattoo", Mikako Komatsu and Chika Anzai talk about the two heroines and the ED theme "EGOISTIC EMOTION"! The two heroines and the ED theme "EGOISTIC EMOTION

The TV anime "Taboo Tattoo" currently airing has two heroines - Izzy, a mysterious girl who changes the fate of the main character Segi, and Toko, a childhood friend who becomes the reason for Segi's fight. Although they lead completely different lives, the ending theme "EGOISTIC EMOTION" (released on August 24), sung by the unit "TRIGGER," has a mysterious atmosphere that envelops the entire story. To find out the secret, we interviewed Mikako Komatsu, who plays Izzy, and Chika Asai, who plays Toko, about the work and the characters!

Fantasy yet realistic, realistic yet fantasy

───First of all, please tell us what you thought of the original work when you read it.

Komatsu: I was tickled by the different abilities of the characters, and the magnificent worldview drew me in. I have always loved fantasy, but the fact that it is a fantasy and yet depicts realistic human life is what I love about it. I thought it was a work that stirred up all kinds of fantasies about what it would be like if I were there, if I could use these abilities.

─ Is there any particular ability that you would like to use?

Komatsu Actually, I would like to live without fear for my life, so I don't think I really want to use it myself (laughs). But I yearn for the coolness of the spell crest appearing and triggering something to activate the ability.

Yasuzue: In reality, yes (laughs). I am also very attracted to fantasy within the real world. If I had read the book when I was in junior high school, I would have definitely put a tattoo sticker on myself and played with it. The story has many serious twists and turns, and there are difficult issues moving under the surface, but young Segi and Toko don't really get it. I felt that because both adult and children's perspectives are woven into the story, it can be enjoyed by a wide range of generations and that it is a fantasy but realistic work. Personally, I also like the pictures.

Komatsu They are beautiful.

Yasuzajin: It's both cute and cool, and I think it's wonderful. The animation adds even more power to the movements, and I was impressed by the smooth, long camera angles and the unique way of creating the action scenes that are unique to this work.

What is your impression of the character you play?

Komatsu: Izzy's appearance doesn't match her actual age due to her abilities. I think it is shocking for a girl to see that her appearance doesn't change as she ages, but I feel that she is a really strong person because she doesn't usually show it. As the story progresses, we see more of her own love life and relationships, perhaps because Izzy is also influenced by Segi's growth.

Anzai: In Toko's case, my first impression of her changed drastically. At first I had the impression that she was just a cute girl who could be found anywhere, but for her, Segi comes first, and his happiness is her happiness. So perhaps she could easily sacrifice herself for Segi's sake, but that doesn't make her a tragic heroine. She is a girl who stands by Segi's side in a very positive way, wanting to "support" him, and my impression of her as a girl with a strong core, which is rare these days, is getting stronger.
