Digimon Adventure tri.", Chapter 3 ED is sung by the band "KOD" in the movie! Interview with Yoshimasa Hosoya has also arrived!

Information on the ED theme of the anime movie "Digimon Adventure tri. 3: Confessions", which will be released on September 24, has been announced.

Digimon Adventure tri." is a theater anime sequel to the TV anime "Digimon Adventure" broadcast in 1999. Set three years after "Digimon Adventure 02," the story of the "chosen children," including the main character Taichi Yagami and Yamato Ishida, who are now high school students, is told in a total of six chapters. The film is directed by Keitaro Motonaga, with series composition by Yuko Kakihara and character design by Atsuya Uki.

It has been announced that the ED theme for Chapter 3, "For Me," will be sung by "KNIFE OF DAY," the band formed by Yamato Ishida in the film. Below is an interview with Yoshimasa Hosoya, who plays Yamato.

T : How did you feel when you heard that "KNIFE OF DAY" was going to sing the ED theme?

I hadn't sung it yet, but I was a little embarrassed to think that the song would be played with the message at the end of the movie (laughs). Recently, there are many voice actors who are also working as artists, and when I listen to their music, it is very authentic and ....... I have not done anything like that at all, so I was worried about whether I would be able to make it.

I was worried that I wouldn't be able to handle it because I don't do that kind of work at all.

It has been a long-running work, and when the first chapter was shown in theaters, it was great news, and with the cast changes, I thought there would be more negative comments about me playing Yamato. So during the postrecording of the first chapter, I was a bit tense. But later, at an event called Digifest, which I attended, a letter from Koji Wada was read, and there were people of all ages in the audience, and many of them were in tears. It reminded me of my childhood when I cried when my favorite anime came to the final episode, and I started to feel pressure from the second chapter when I realized that such pure people were watching the show (laugh). When I heard the demo of the ED theme "For me," which I was asked to sing this time, I felt very happy, so I just sang it as hard as I could and hoped that my feelings would be conveyed and that it would resonate.

Tatsuya : What kind of song is the ED theme "For Me"?

When I first heard it, I felt that it was about Yamato's feelings for Gabumon. There was a scene where he gets separated from the Digimon and the others, and it was after the postrecording of that scene, so I thought it was even more so. However, most of the character songs I've been involved with have been lyrics that directly describe the dialogue or development of the story, but "Boku no tameno" is not like that. I think the song is a song that many people can relate to.

What are you looking forward to?

I think the scale will be different because it will be played in a theater. It's a character song, but on the scale of a theater. It's a character song, but the quality of the sound will be in line with the scale of the theater, so I'm looking forward to that.

What do you think of the coupling song "WHICH"?

I really like the lyrics! The main character in the lyrics is struggling to find himself. In terms of Digimon, Taichi and everyone around him have grown up, and by fighting alongside the Digimon, they might destroy their town. Up until now, enemies have appeared and fighting Digimon may have been taken for granted, but for normal people, it would be a big deal if a building was destroyed, and Yamato wants to fight passionately with everyone who has started to think about such things, with all his might, just like in the old days. I thought the story (lyrics) was about him struggling with the fact that people around him seem to be getting cold feet because he hasn't changed.

Lastly, do you have a message for your fans?

I think it is a very big event for me to sing the ED theme for "Digimon Adventure", a work with a long history as someone who is involved in the anime. The fact that they chose me to sing the ED theme as Yamato Ishida is due to the will of many people, including the production team and staff, and I believe that they chose me with the expectation that I would sing the ED theme, for which I am very grateful and thankful. However, entertainment is only as good as the audience sees and hears it, and I think that starts from here. So, as a first step, I think that the people who chose me want to see "Digimon Adventure tri. Chapter 3: Confessions" and be pleased when the audience hears the ED theme. I hope that the audience will enjoy the ED theme as a part of the work in a theater with a good soundtrack. I hope you will come to the theater and enjoy
the ED theme as a part of the work with good sound !
