An official report from the completion screening of the anime film "聲の形," which will be released on September 17, has arrived.

The Shape of Voices" is a theatrical anime based on the manga series by Ryotoki Ohimah, which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine (Kodansha) from 2013 to 2014. The original story, which focuses on bullying of the hearing impaired, won numerous awards, including the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Award Shinsei Prize, and attracted a great deal of attention. Directed by Yamada of "K-ON! and "Tamako Love Story," directed by Naoko Yamada, script by Reiko Yoshida of "Girls und Panzer," and produced by Kyoto Animation.

On August 24 (Wed.), a completion screening was held at Marunouchi Piccadilly in Tokyo, where Saori Hayami, who plays the role of Nishimiya Glass, and Maayu Matsuoka, who plays the boyhood of the main character Ishida Masaya, and director Yamada appeared on stage to greet the audience. Below is the event report.

Saori Hayami, who plays the heroine Glasses Nishimiya, Maayu Matsuoka, who plays Masaya Ishida as a boy in elementary school, and director Naoko Yamada took the stage at the MC's call. Hayami said, "I am so happy that you can see the movie today. Please enjoy it until the end. I played the role of Masaya in elementary school. The completed movie is really wonderful and I hope everyone who will watch it from now on will enjoy it. When the MC mentioned that their nicknames were Hayami (Hayami), Matsutsu (Matsuoka), and Naobe (Yamada), the three declared that they would call each other "Hayami, Matsutsu, and Naobe" from now on. They looked relaxed as they entered the stage greeting. When asked about the characters they played, they replied, "In terms of the recording studio and my spirit, when I talked with Yamada ...... Naobe (laughs), (Glass) was a girl who struggled to live her life, who wanted to tell her story but couldn't. Rather than being a saint, she was a girl who struggled to live her life. I felt that rather than being a saint, she was a girl who was trying her best to live one day at a time (Hayami).""In elementary school, Masaya was a bully, and I wondered why, but when I faced Masaya, he was pure and innocent, and I fell in love with him. I'm looking forward to seeing my favorite Masaya in the future ( Matsuoka )." Director Yamada added, "From the first time I read the original story, I thought it was a work about being close to people's hearts, trying to be positive toward the core of the heart, and trying to somehow connect with others even though things don't go well. I thought it was a work about trying to connect with people somehow, even though it doesn't work out. I wanted to depict the importance of facing people on an equal footing as "people to people.

Hayami and Matsuoka both mentioned the same scene as a memorable scene in which they co-starred in the film. There are many scenes that stick in my mind," said Hayami, "but there is one scene where the elementary school student Glass and Masaya really clash. It's not verbalized at all, but it's conveyed. I think that is the core of this work (Hayami)." "During the recording of that scene, I was so emotional that I lost my voice (laughs) ( Matsuoka )," recalled director Yamada. Director Yamada said, "That scene was an important scene where Masaya was trying to listen and Glass was trying to communicate, so I'm glad you guys thought so. It was an important scene where they were facing each other, and I'm glad that you both felt that way. It was a great scene that conveyed that through their voices.

In a video message from Miyu Irino, who played Shoya, a high school student who was unable to attend the event, he said, "I think this film is filled with what I wanted to express in the movie '聲の形' this time. I hope everyone in the audience will share my love for "聲の形" and give it to me! Matsuoka met with Irino during the recording of the film, and the climax of the scene that followed changed the way he approached the scene. Yamada said, "Masaya Matsuoka and Masaya Irino became one person. It was so amazing that I thought it was a miraculous meeting," he recalled. When a letter from aiko, who sang the theme song, was read on their behalf, the three said in unison, "That's amazing! Director Yamada praised the introduction of the theme song, saying, "The introduction of the theme song is like a piano practice piece, and it's so good that it makes you feel as if you are watching the process from elementary school to high school all the way through.
The film is filled with soft and gentle pictures and gentle music, but the content is also sharp.Ihope that you will release those feelings just for this time today, and let yourself be confronted with this film.I was able to look back on my past and become positive after watching this film. It makes me look forward to living tomorrow.I hope this film will give you a small sign of hope that you can take another step forward tomorrow ( Director Yamada ).
