Kimi no na wa. is the latest work by Makoto Shinkai, the director of "5 Centimeters per Second" and "The Garden of Words," whose beautiful animation and delicate stories have gained worldwide support. The film features a high school girl from the countryside who yearns for the city and a high school boy from the city, and depicts their love and a miracle when they switch places in a dream. The original story, director, and screenplay are by Makoto Shinkai, the animation director is Masashi Ando, who has participated in many Studio Ghibli films including "Spirited Away," the character design is by Masaga Tanaka of "My Heart is Screaming. The music is by RADWIMPS, and the production is by Comics Wave Film.

The visual is based on the scene at the end of the movie where the hero, Taki, and the heroine, Mitsuba, meet for the first time on a mountaintop overlooking Lake Itomori on the evening of the day when the comet makes its closest approach to the earth (at the time of the waning of the comet). The visual was newly drawn by director Makoto Shinkai, character designer Masaga Tanaka, art director Takumi Tanji, and other staff members as a token of their appreciation for the record-breaking success of the film.
