An event report has arrived from the first chapter of the anime "CYBORG009 CALL OF JUSTICE," which will be released on November 25.

CYBORG009 CALL OF JUSTICE" is an anime work produced to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Shotaro Ishinomori's masterpiece "Cyborg 009". It depicts a new battle between the Zero-Zero Number cyborgs and the "Blessed," a group of unidentified aliens, in full 3DCG. General director is Kenji Kamiyama, directed by Kodai Kakimoto, and character design by Masatsugu Saito. The film consists of three chapters: Chapter 1 will be released in theaters on November 25 (Fri.), Chapter 2 on December 2 (Fri.), and Chapter 3 on December 9 (Fri.) for a limited two-week run.

An official report from the screening with a stage greeting held at the 29th Tokyo International Film Festival on Tuesday, November 1 has now arrived. Keisuke Kawamoto, who plays the main character Joe Shimamura, Yui Makino, who plays Katharina Canatti of the UN Guardians, Kenji Kamiyama, director Hirohiro Kakimoto, and Kazuhiko Inoue, who plays Emperor, who stands in the way of 009, made a surprise appearance on stage. The talk session was a great success, with everyone from the younger generation to the fans of yesteryear.

How did you feel when you were first told about the role?
Keisuke Kawamoto: When I heard that I had passed the audition, I was like, "Oh my God, it's good? I was filled with a feeling of "Oh my God, it's good! There were days, such as the day before the recording session, when I was so nervous that I could not sleep, but I thought that the fact that I had passed the audition meant that I had what it takes to play Joe, so I put my whole heart and soul into playing Joe Shimamura.

Yui Makino: "Cyborg 009" is a very big title, and I was very happy to be able to participate in the audition. Both my mother and father have been familiar with the character since I was a child, so when I heard that I had been selected for the role, my whole family was very happy.

What did Kazuhiko Inoue, who played the third Joe Shimamura, think of the new Joe played by Keisuke Kawamoto?

Kazuhiko Inoue: He was cool. When I entered the studio, there was a lot of tension in the studio, but Kawamoto-kun, as 009, was kind but reliable as a leader, and he was leading everyone. I sat near him, and it was wonderful.

How did you come to talk to Director Kakimoto about this project?
Director Kakimoto: When I was having a drink with Kamiyama-san, he asked me if I would be interested in directing his next film, and I said I would love to do it. I was trembling at the thought of such a big title. Most of the work has already been done now, but seeing this massive work again, I feel dreamy about the fact that we were able to create such an amazing piece of work.

What are the highlights for the future?
Director Kamiyama: This work is a trilogy, and at the beginning of the first chapter, the Zero Zero Number Cyborgs, who had been living peacefully, are finally involved in a battle. The three-way battle between the Zero-Zero Number Cyborgs vs. the Blessed vs. the Guardians and the purpose of the Blessed, which is still shrouded in mystery, are all things that could only be created in a three-part film. I hope that you will take note of the full range of activities of all the Zero-Zero Number cyborgs in the future.

Keisuke Kawamoto: I think the reason why "Cyborg 009" has been made into a movie so many times in the past is because Mr. Shotaro Ishinomori's work "Cyborg 009" has charm and power to attract people. I feel very happy in my life as a voice actor to be able to play the role of Joe Shimamura in this long history and to be involved in this work. The images, voice actors, staff, music, everyone has created all the excitement and enthusiasm to be involved in this work, and I hope that you will look forward to the second and third chapters in the future.
