An official report from the production announcement meeting of the TV anime "AKIBA'S TRIP -THE ANIMATION-", which will start in January 2017, has arrived.

AKIBA'S TRIP -THE ANIMATION-" is a TV anime that follows the world of the popular action adventure game series "AKIBA'S TRIP" released by ACQUIRE. Both the characters and storyline are original to the anime, which depicts the battle between Tamotsu and other vigilantes against the "Bagrimono," a mysterious enemy that haunts Akihabara. Directed by Hiroshi Ikehata, series composition by Kazuho Hyodo, character design by Hajime Mitsuda, and produced by GONZO.

The official report from the "AKIBA'S TRIP -THE ANIMATION-" production announcement held on November 8 (Tuesday) has just arrived. Details of the production, including cast, staff, and broadcast information, as well as scene cuts from the first PV, will be presented on the next page.

This work is an original anime in terms of characters and storyline, while following the world view of Aquire's popular "AKIBA'S TRIP" game series. Director Hiroshi says, "Akihabara is now a town of maids and anime. But when I was a child, it was a town of computer parts and used games. For the older generation, it was the town of radios and wireless communication. I want to show the deeper side of Akihabara," he said enthusiastically.

Haruki Ishitani, who plays Tamotsu Denki Kai, makes his first starring appearance in a film. When asked about his feelings, he said, "I couldn't believe it when I heard I had been cast as Tamotsu, and since the cast announcement at Machi★Asobi vol. 17 in October, I've been gradually getting a sense of it.

Takahashi Riyo (who plays the role of Banze Kisumari), Takano Marika (who plays the role of Denki Kai Niwaka), and Nagaku Yuki (who plays the role of Arisa Ahokainen) are currently performing together as the music unit "Earphones," and the three were in good harmony after a long absence from the group. Ishitani, too, was excited to be working together with the three of them after a long time, and even improvised during the postrecording of the first episode.

About the role she plays, Takahashi said, "She is a mysterious girl with red and white hair and a bat. But I think she is a normal girl inside. Takano, who plays Niwaka, Tamotsu's younger sister, says, "Both of my siblings love Akihabara, but I was surprised to hear that Niwaka is a soft otaku, so she became 'Niwaka' as it is (laughs). Otaku range from core to light. She is the one that everyone can relate to," she said.
Nagatomo, who plays Yusa, a mysterious foreigner, big breasts, martial arts expert, and many other elements, said, "She is half-Finnish and half-Japanese, and a very beautiful girl, so I have to do my best to be as close to her as possible," and director Hiroshi revealed, "This is what happened when I combined all the sub-characters I had in mind into one.

Next up were two guests, Takuma Endo (President of ACQUIRE Corporation) and Tatsuya Tominaga (Game Producer, DMM.com Labs Inc.). They reviewed the history of ACQUIRE and the "AKIBA'S TRIP" game series, and also promoted "AKIBA'S TRIP Festa!" scheduled for distribution in early December. In addition, the collaboration sweets "Kurobaggeki" and "Niwaka Panda Cake," which were prepared especially for the occasion, were unveiled. The sweets will be on sale from February 18 to 26, 2017 at the sweets booth in the K-BOOKS Akihabara main building. Director Hiroshi concluded, "At the start of the show, I had some reservations about Acquire, but as the episodes progressed, those reservations disappeared, and I think the anime has become something that everyone can enjoy. Production is going well, so please look forward to it.
