Anime Column] Midterm Review of Fall 2016 Anime by Anime Writers

The total number of new anime for fall 2016 is 75, according to Anipota. This is a large volume that would make even the brain-trained working memory scream. Furthermore, the two-cour broadcast schedule, which overconfidently trusts human memory, and the sudden interruptions of compilation episodes and special programs make it difficult to know how many episodes you have just watched. For those forgetful anime fans, I recommend a short anime, 5 minutes long, so you can remember it. So, here is a mid-term review of this fall's hottest short anime.
Nobunaga's Ninja," based on a four-panel comic about the Warring States period; "Aoani~ji Annimation," an anime adaptation of a popular horror game; the cat anime "Nyanbo! the "3NenDGumi Glass Mask," a 3D version of the famous character, and "According to Miss Bernard," which depicts the daily life of a bookworm. which depicts the daily life of a reader!

Nobunaga's Ninja

In this period drama anime, Chidori, an Iga ninja who is still a child but has great abilities, rides through the warring states in the service of Nobunaga Oda, who dreams of unifying the country and ruling over a turbulent world. The high-tempo rhythm of the four frames of the original story, which continue to be digested in about 15 seconds, is so comfortable that you will find yourself finishing an episode before you know it. Although it is a gag anime, the story is based on historical facts, and the more you watch it, the more you learn trivia about the Warring States period, such as the fact that the war horses ridden by warlords were slower than others and that Hideyoshi and Nene were married in love, which was rare in those days.
The battle scenes are realistic and unexpectedly violent, with blood spilling and hands being torn off. The opening scene is stylish, with a red background that makes the bloodshed look as black as ink. Episode 0 is now available on the official website. Don't miss the episode about the encounter between Chidori and Nobunaga.

Aoni - Ji-Ani Meishon

A short anime adaptation of a horror game in which four boys and a girl are trapped in an uninhabited Western-style house and chased by a mysterious giant, Blue Oni. Although the characters are all two-headed and pop-colored, the concept of the Blue Demon eating people is the same as the original story. The result is a horror comedy in which the blue demons catch you every time and turn you into a GAMEOVER.
The deaths are varied, including bludgeoning, strangulation, crushing to death, and chopping off heads. However, the fact that it is enjoyable without feeling too splattery is probably due to the strange charm of the blue demons. In the fourth episode, "Aoni no yugana ichinichi," the film's documentary touch is used to show Aoni's efforts to entertain guests who have wandered into a Western-style house. In addition, an original theatrical animation is scheduled to be released in 2017. This one will be a full-fledged suspense horror film.

Nyanbo!

The popular character Danbo from Kiyohiko Azuma's manga "Yotsuba! character "Danboard" appears as a cat named "Nyanbo. The palm-sized characters run around in the attic, park, and other live-action locations, and the CG characters are combined with the backgrounds to create an atmosphere as if they were actually living there.
It is also noteworthy that real cats appear in the film as live-action characters. In the scenes where the cat and NyanBo play with each other, the cat does whatever it wants, such as punching the cat and biting the cat's body. The action between the real cat and NyanBo is a real thrill to watch. It will be interesting to see how the story, which incorporates a science fiction element in which the dream is to fix a broken UFO and go to space, develops. The ending of the film depicts Yotsuba, the main character of "Yotsuba! is also depicted in the ending.

3-year D-gram "The Mask of Glass

An animation commemorating the 40th anniversary of the immortal masterpiece "The Glass Mask," in which Kitajima Maya and her friends are transported back in time to the 21st century and use their theatrical skills to warm the hearts of today's cold-hearted viewers. The film cleverly translates famous scenes, such as Maya eating mud dumplings, saying, "To understand herbivorous men, you have to know the water and soil that nurtures grass. ......
Spin-offs that emphasize only the comical aspects of the original work tend to become a joke, but the characters' personalities themselves remain unchanged, allowing the viewer to enjoy them without feeling any sense of discomfort. This is a reminder of the power of "Glass Mask. The ending theme song, "Twilight's End," has a small plot twist that changes the lyrics each time, keeping viewers on their toes. Sakurakouji-kun's shouts of "Maya-chan! and it gradually brings a smile to the face of the audience.

According to Ms. Bernard, "I want to be a bookworm without reading a book.

An anime adaptation of a gag manga about Sawako Machida, a girl who wants to be a bookworm without reading books, and her book-loving friends. In the original work, more than 50 books appear in each volume with real names, but in the anime, there are a few non-existent books mixed in. As an otaku, the proper gesture here would be to follow Sawako Machida's example and try to imagine what goes on behind the scenes of the production, saying, "As expected, the real names can't be used for books whose translations are not good enough.
Instead, the anime features portraits of the authors. The lineup is chaotic, including Yasutaka Tsutsui, Keiki Shimoda, and the comedy duo "Sammers," and one can only wonder which artist will be portrayed in the future. After the main story, there is a Ichijinsha commercial in which the characters call each other, and you can enjoy it for the full time slot.
