The TV anime "Yami Shibai" is a short horror anime about strange urban legends that happen around us. The first season aired in 2013 and attracted many fans with its unique Showa-era taste of "picture-story shows" presented in a digital format. The second season aired in the summer of 2014, and the third in the winter of 2016.

It was announced that the fourth season, a new series, will begin in January 2017. The fourth season will feature a cast of 13 actors, including Kanji Tsuda, who has played the same role in previous series, as well as Nozomi Terada, Tetsu Watanabe, and Hisahiro Ogura, as the "uncle" of the picture-story show shop. The content of the show focuses more on "storytelling," which is the starting point of picture-story show expression.

The new series will be drawn by a variety of people, including Shinji Nishikawa (Heisei "Godzilla" series, etc.), Ryo Kudo (Space Hero Perry Rodin series, etc.), and Ayuki Mimata, who specializes in horror drawings for the "Yami Shibai" series, as well as directed by Kaneko Masaya Kaneko, who has directed many games including "RAMPO" (Sega Saturn), is in charge of direction.
