The result of the "2016 Autumn Anime OP Theme Popularity Poll" was announced, and the No. 1 was decided by a landslide: DEAN FUJIOKA's "History Maker"!

We are pleased to announce the results of the official voting project "OP Theme Popularity Poll [2016 Fall Anime]," which was held on Akiba Research Institute's anime portal "Anipota" from November 11 (Fri.) to December 4 (Sun.), 2016. The top 10 songs are as follows.

The first place went to "Huri! on ICE" OP theme "History Maker" (DEAN FUJIOKA) took first place. It garnered a whopping 6,000 votes to take the dantotsu top spot, far ahead of the second-place finisher. The figure skating-themed "Yuri! on ICE," which is based on the theme of figure skating, is one of the most popular anime of the fall 2016 anime season, as it was ranked No. 1 in the "2016 Fall Anime Competitiveness Popularity Poll" held earlier, but it is also attracting attention for its OP theme song performed by the popular handsome actor Dean Fujioka. The powerful and expansive worldview of the song, with its all-English lyrics and internationalist Dean's style, fits perfectly with the image of this work, and seems to have gained sympathy not only from Dean's fans but also from many anime fans.

Following in second place was "Accelerate Trial" (Masked Girls), the OP theme of "CHEATING CRAFT," which received more than 2,000 votes. Masked Girls is an underground idol group in which all members wear masks, but they have a very strong fan base, as evidenced by the 15,000 people who attended their solo live performance at Saitama Super Arena. Although "CHEATING CRAFT" itself is a 10-minute short animation, the popularity of the Masked Girls made it an impressive No. 2 on the list.

Also in third place was "Dimension sky" (Yushu Fujisaki ), the OP theme for "Nazotokine," another 10-minute short anime. The song was voted by many fans as a result of information spread by Ms. Fujisaki herself on Twitter and other means. It was the dark horse of this year's voting.

The other two songs ranked 4th and 5th were "Shout" (by Aimi Numakura), the OP theme of "Magical Girl Raising Project," which is a highly rated anime work, and "Shakunetsu Switch" (by Jakugahara Junior High School Table Tennis Club), the OP theme of "Shakunetsu no Ta-kyuu Musume". BUMP OF CHICKEN's "Answer," which had been considered a strong candidate from the beginning, came in at No. 7, TRUE's "Sound Scape" at No. 9, and AKINO with bless4's "cross the line" at No. 10.
