The animated film "Poppin Q" will finally be released tomorrow (December 23, 2016). The film is a commemorative work for the 60th anniversary of Toei Animation, which has created many heroines in the past, and is attracting attention from a wide range of people as well as animation fans.

Akiba Research Institute interviewed Masami Seto, Shiori Izawa, Atsumi Tanazaki, Arie Ozawa, and Tomoyo Kurosawa, who appeared at the "Super Premium Meeting" event screening held on Saturday, December 3. We asked them about their impressions of the event, where "Poppin Q" was screened for the first time in front of fans, as well as the highlights of the film, so be sure to check it out before heading to the theater.

─ ─ Today (December 3) was the "Super Premium Meeting" event screening, and many anime fans who had been waiting for the screening of "Poppin Q" came to the venue. This is the first time this film is being screened in front of an audience.

Asami Seto (Seto): I am happy to finally be able to show the film to the audience today and see their faces directly, although it is limited to those who came to the event today. It has been a long time since the announcement and recording, but I have been involved with "Poppin Q" for a long time, appearing on "Radio Poppin Q: Make it just a little more interesting, and the world will change" with Ozawa-san and Kurosawa-san. I'm so excited that it's finally going to be released!

Shiori Izawa (Izawa): I thought it was still a long way off, but since the release of the film has been moved up, I realized it was getting closer and closer. I am looking forward to hearing the audience's reaction to today's event, and I have been excited since this morning. I've been excited all morning, and I'm eager to hear what they think of the film.

Atsumi Tanezaki (Tanezaki): It seems like such a short time has passed since I auditioned, so it's a little strange to think that there are people watching the show today. But I'm still happy that people are watching it. I can't wait for the release of the film.

Arie Ozawa (Ozawa): After the recording session, I was looking forward to the completion of the film, and after watching the preview, I was excited to see the film in December, thinking that we had created something wonderful, but the release date is still a long way off. I am glad that so many people came to see the film at this event.

Tomoyo Kurosawa (Kurosawa): I was quite conflicted about the role from the time I received the script to the recording, so I am anxious to see your reactions, but also excited.

─ What did you pay attention to when playing the heroines, who are all unique and grow as they mature in the story?

Seto: I think that Izumi has become more attentive to what others have to say. She has always been a bright and positive girl with a strong and firm opinion of her own, but as she meets other characters and isotopes, she has become more aware of the need to accept other people's opinions and then make them her own. ・・・・・・Of course, this is a difficult thing to do even as an adult, but ・・・・・・I think that's what she has become more aware of. I carefully played the role of Aoi Izawa, who looks black but is not.

Izawa Aoi has long black hair and a strong image of an older sister, but in fact, she is not like that. I tried to find a balance where I should not be an older sister at all. She gradually trusts her friends, calls them by name, and worries about them, so it was difficult to connect these emotional changes.

Tanezaki: Konatsu is a calm, fast-paced, mood-maker. I especially wanted to emphasize the mood-maker aspect of her character. During the audition, she said, "Teamwork, teamwork," and I was impressed by that. Even in a tense scene, a single word from Konatsu would calm the scene. I tried to play the role with an awareness of her soft and gentle side, and not to be too strong.

Ozawa: Asahi is a very strong girl who practices aikido. At first, she doesn't express herself very much, and her reserved behavior is noticeable as she watches her surroundings, but she has her own ideas. I tried not to give the impression that she is a quiet girl, but to show that she does what she has to do and has guts from the beginning.

Kurosawa Saki is a girl who never says a casual word to the other four. The animators have made her attractive with her facial expressions and posture, so I don't think the audience will have the impression that she was only there at the end of the show. I was careful not to make a break into a break during dubbing, so that I could keep the same pace of time as everyone else.
Also, since she is a girl who borrows the power of the pictures more than any other character, I tried to capture the expressions of the pictures, to keep in tune with the animators, and to make her everyone's Saki rather than my Saki.
