Anime film "Komprex x Complex" to be released in theaters!　Coming-of-age story of unusual junior high school boys and girls who are happy and sad over the issue of armpit hair.

A short Flash animation film about armpit hair, "Complex x Complex," will be shown at Shimokitazawa Tollywood in Tokyo for a limited two-week period starting February 4.

The film is an unusual coming-of-age comedy about junior high school boys and girls who are both happy and sad about the issue of armpit hair. While dealing with the core subject of armpit hair, it is a funny and sad depiction of a page in adolescence that everyone can remember. Upon its completion last year, the film received a great response and won the Grand Prix at the SKIP CITY INTERNATIONAL D-Cinema FESTIVAL 2016 in the Animation Division, as well as the Grand Prix at the 8th Shimokitazawa Film Festival. The film quickly swept film festivals in Japan and has won nine awards to date, including five Grand Prix.

Directed by Miyuki Fukuda, an up-and-coming director who continues to create pop comedy wrapped around core subjects in both animation and live-action. The three voice actors playing junior high school students are newcomers in their teens. The freshness created by the life-size cast is one of the charms of this film.
In order to make the most of the realistic dialogue and pauses, the dialogue is recorded first, and then the animation is created in accordance with the recorded dialogue. The film captures many moments that can never be recorded again, such as ad-libs and biting lines.
