Winter anime "Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju - Sukeroku Again Arc-" reveals opening video and soundtrack ahead of anime broadcast!

The sound and video of the opening theme of the winter anime "Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju - Sukeroku Again Arc-", which will start airing in January, have been released.

Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju" is a manga serialized in "ITAN" (Kodansha) by Haruko Unda. The story centers on Yorakutei Yakumo, a lone rakugo storyteller who is called "the last master of the Showa era," and Yotaro, who fell in love with rakugo and became his apprentice.
From January, the second season "Sukeroku again" will be shown on film, which depicts Yotaro who became a professional actor and succeeded the name of "Sukeroku".

The opening video and soundtrack were released prior to the first broadcast of the anime on January 6. The opening theme "Imawa no shinigami" is performed by Megumi Hayashibara, who is not only a voice actress but also a radio personality, lyricist, and essayist, and also plays Miyokichi, an important character who appeared in the first season of the anime. The song will be written, composed, and produced by Ringo Shiina, as in the first season, and the two will team up again.

As the title of the theme song suggests, the opening video of the anime is based on a passage from the classic rakugo tale "Shinigami" (The God of Death) and the delicate emotions and anguish of the characters in the anime, especially Yurakutei Yakumo, a solitary rakugo storyteller. This opening video is scheduled to be aired from the second episode of the anime.
