Anime "Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Warriors of Love" Chapter 1 main visual and trailer unveiled!　The legendary goddess "Teresa" is played by Sayaka Kanda

The latest information on the anime "Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Warriors of Love," including the main visual for the first chapter, has been announced.

Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Warriors of Love" is a sequel to "Space Battleship Yamato 2199," a remake of the classic "Space Battleship Yamato," and as the title suggests, is based on the 1978 anime film "Farewell, Space Battleship Yamato: Warriors of Love. Three years after Yamato completes its voyage to Iskandar, the film depicts a new voyage by the crew of Yamato to confront the threat of the battle nation of Gatlantis, an Imperial Star, looming over the Earth, which is undergoing reconstruction. The executive producer is Shoji Nishizaki, the director is Nobuyoshi Habara of "Blue Sky: Fafner," the assistant director is Makoto Kobayashi of "Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection," and the series composition and screenplay are by Harutoshi Fukui of "Mobile Suit Gundam UC. The first chapter will be screened at 15 theaters nationwide, including Shinjuku Piccadilly, for a limited two-week period starting February 25, 2017.

It was announced that actress Sayaka Kanda, who played Anna in "Anna and the Snow Queen," will play the role of Teresa, an important character in the film.
In addition, the main visual and theatrical trailer for the first chapter, which depicts Susumu Ancient and Moriyuki in captain's uniforms and Yamato launching from the sea, have been unveiled.

The video also features the voice of Teresa, played by Kanda-san, and the heroic figure of Andromeda.

How did you feel when you were chosen to play the role of Teresa?
I myself was of course familiar with the work "Space Battleship Yamato," so at first I was very surprised that it was being made into a new film. I was very happy to have been given the role, but at first, I was very intimidated by the fact that I would be playing the role of Teresa, a character that plays an important role in the film. When I saw "Farewell Space Battleship Yamato: Warriors of Love" for the first time, Teresa was a very memorable character, so I felt it was a great responsibility.

How did you feel after reading the script and going through the recording process?
I had participated in several animated films before, but at that time, I had never recorded with other voice actors because we recorded separately. However, in this work, I was able to record at the same site and at the same time as the distinguished cast members, so in that sense, I think this may be my real debut as a voice actor. While I felt that I should not drag my feet, the script for this project called for me to speak a few lines at the beginning and then disappear, so I felt that I could not stumble at the beginning like this (laughs). (Laughs) The role was so grand that I was nervous from the day before the recording session, wondering how I would play the role.

What are your expectations for the future of the film?
There are many deep-rooted fans of the great work "Yamato" that has existed since before I was born, so I personally hope that the ending will satisfy them. I would also like to widen the gate not only for those existing fans, but also for the generations younger than myself and those who are watching "Yamato" for the first time. I would like to help as many people as possible to be moved by Yamato.

Teresa is a key and iconic figure in the "Yamato" series, and I have a growing sense of responsibility to carry on her work. I will do my best so that when the series comes to an end, Teresa will become a new Teresa that will become a natural part of everyone's lives.
