Winter Anime "Onihei" Unveils Scenes from First Episode! Also unveiled a 30-second spot where you can see Onihei in action!

New scene photos have been released from the TV anime "Onihei," which will start in January 2017.

Based on Shotaro Ikenami's historical novel series "Onihei Hankacho" (Bungeishunju), which has sold 27 million copies in total. Set in Edo (present-day Tokyo), the series has gained popularity for its depiction of Hasegawa Heizo, the "Hitsuke Touzoku Aaratamekata" (a thief who changes the order of thieves by lighting fires), as he brings the villains to justice. The work has been widely adapted into live-action dramas and manga, but this is the first time it has been made into an anime. Produced by Masao Maruyama of "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" and "Summer Wars," directed and character designed by Shigeyuki Miya of "BUZZER BEATER" and "Lupin III: GREEN vs. RED," produced by TMS Entertainment, and animated by Studio M2.

The scene photos released this time are depicted in the first episode. A 30-second spot video was also released prior to the broadcast. In addition to Heizo's blood-spattering sword fighting action as he approaches the villains with a sharp look in his eyes, beautiful female characters such as Hikonju, Samanosuke, Heizo's former fellow swordsman, Hisae, Heizo's wife, and Ofusa, with whom Heizo and Samanosuke once had a secret love affair, are also featured.
