─ ─ What kind of year was 2016 for you, Ms. Uchida?

Uchida: It was a year in which I fully enjoyed my hobbies. I worked hard at my job, of course, but I was also able to enjoy various things that I liked and took a lot of time for input, which I was able to use in my talks and musical activities. As a result, I think it was a year in which I was able to deepen my own color.

─ ─ Do you mean that you actively went out and about in your private life as well?

Uchida Yes, I did. Even on my days off, I like to keep my schedule tightly packed. One of the hobbies I got into in 2016 was Kabuki, and I made a reservation to go to Kabuki once a month! I made reservations to go once a month. I also developed a new hobby of watching baseball games, going to Fukuoka, Sendai, Tokorozawa, and Chiba to watch my favorite team, the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks. Anyway, it was a year in which I was able to do many things that I had wanted to do but never got around to. One of them is that I started driving.

─ So it was a year in which you were able to do all the things you wanted to do.

Uchida: All of those experiences are reflected in this "Drive-in Theater. In a word, this mini-album shows what I am like now. In my past songs, I have rarely shown my inner self, but this time, I wanted to show a lot of Uchida Marei herself. I feel that by doing so, I have become a little more mature.

─ ─ Why did you choose "Drive-in Theater" as the title of this mini-album?

Uchida: When I was thinking about what kind of title to use for the theme of going on a trip, I happened to see a picture of a drive-in theater and thought, "This is it! I thought, "This is it! I thought the image of everyone looking at the same screen from inside a car would fit the songs on this album.
