Anime "Arithmetic Family" Appointed as Kyoto Special Goodwill Ambassador!　Key visuals for the second season, new cast members, and other latest information are now available!

The anime "Arikuten Kazoku" was appointed as "Kyoto Special Goodwill Ambassador" by Kyoto City.

The "Yujoten Kazoku" is a TV animation based on a novel (Gentosha) by Tomihiko Morimi, a well-known author of "Shijohan Shinwa Taikei" and other works. It is a comedy-drama series set in modern-day Kyoto, where raccoon dogs, tengu, and humans are all mixed up. The series was broadcast from July to September 2013 and was highly acclaimed in various fields, winning the 17th Japan Media Arts Festival's Animation Division Excellence Award. The second season, "Arikuten Kazoku 2" will begin airing on April 9, 2017.

Today (Jan. 12), "Yujoten Kazoku 2" was held in the precincts of the World Heritage Shimogamo-jinja Shrine (Kamo Goso-jinja Shrine) to pray for the success of "Yujoten Kazoku 2"! At the "Shimogamo Shrine Tadasunomori Tanuki Gathering" held today (January 12) at Shimogamo Shrine (Kamo Goso Jinja), it was announced that the anime "Ujoten Kazoku" would become the "Kyoto Special Goodwill Ambassador".

The Kyoto Special Goodwill Ambassador was newly established by Kyoto City for the purpose of "improving the Kyoto brand and promoting tourism." The reason for the appointment is that "The Arikuten Kazoku" has contributed to improving the Kyoto brand and attracting tourists by communicating Kyoto's charms to the world through its works. This is the first time that an animated film has been appointed as an ambassador of Kyoto City.

In addition to the main visual, it was announced that Junji Mashima will play the role of the second generation, Yoko Hikasa will play the role of Gyokuran, Yuichi Nakamura will play the role of Kureichiro, and Satoshi Shimada will play Tenmanya. The first part of the campaign is a collaboration with Eizan Railway, which often appears in Tomihiko Morimi's works, to run the "Yujoten Kazoku-go," which displays posters of characters, settings and art boards in the "Komorebi" gallery train.
