An orphanage in the suburbs of the empire. Tanya volunteers to join the Imperial Army to escape her impoverished life. She demonstrates her aptitude as a mage and enters the military academy. As her final training, she was assigned to observe friendly artillery fire in the skies over the northern Norden battle zone. It was supposed to be a simple and risk-free mission. However, the situation changed drastically when the Coalition and the Empire entered a state of war following a cross-border invasion by Coalition forces. Tanya is ambushed by an enemy magic squadron and is forced to engage them alone. Outnumbered and outgunned, there is no way she can hold out until reinforcements arrive, but if she tries to flee, she is condemned to death for fleeing before the enemy.
