nano celebrates its 5th anniversary. A new single containing a collection of "Chain Chronicle" related songs is now available!

Nano will celebrate its 5th anniversary this year. Currently, five commemorative projects are underway. The second of these is their eighth single, "MY LIBERATION / PARAISO," which was released on February 1. This double A-side single includes two theme songs for the anime "Chain Chronicle: Hexeitas no Sen". Both songs are rock numbers with lyrics written by Nano, who was attracted to the world of "Chain Chronicle". The anime version also includes the theme song for the game "Chain Chronicle 3". We interviewed Nano, who has made a good start in the anniversary year!

This single is filled with the excitement I felt for "Chain Chronicle"!

──This single contains a lot of songs from "Chain Chronicle," doesn't it?

Nano Yes, this single is filled with a lot of "Chain Chronicle.

───Can you tell us about the world of "Chain Chronicle" and your impression of the work?

Nano: Before I was asked to sing the theme song for the anime, I had only heard of the title and had never played the game. So I started by reading the materials I received, and I really felt the link with my own creative world. I was really looking forward to writing the song.

─ ─ What were some of the links, for example?

Nano: The key words of the story, "black and white," and the atmosphere of the characters. Actually, both the anime and the new game ("Chain Chronicle 3") were still in the production stage, so we didn't have that much material to work with. So I was able to freely imagine various things, and I felt as if I was one of the characters, which was very exciting. I think this excitement is fully expressed in this single. There were quite a few parts that I added my own interpretation to, but when I saw the song playing in the finished video, I knew I had made the right choice.

─ ─ I think it would be better for the theme song if there was room for imagination without being too close to the work.

Nano That's right. It is important for me to show my individuality as a musician while at the same time staying close to the work.

─ ─ Were you asked from the beginning to sing three songs for "Cenchlo," including the theme song for the game?

Nano: No, we were asked to sing one song at a time. At first, I was only supposed to write the opening song for the TV anime version, "MY LIBERATION," but then I was asked to write the ending song for the movie version and the theme song for the new game, and so on. I felt many of my favorite elements in "Chenchro," so I was very happy to be asked to write three songs for it. I was given the opportunity to express various elements of the "Chenclo" world, so I got deeper and deeper into it.

─ ─ What is your favorite element of "Chenchro"?

Nano: There are many works with the theme of "battle," but in "Chenchro" I felt a strong sense of pure will. I think that fighting together with your friends, not for yourself, but for the future of the world, is a greater power than living alone. I myself feel the same way in my personal life, so I think this work will give strength to various people.

─ ─ The fact that the main character is not fighting alone was clearly depicted from the beginning of the first episode. Anyway, from the very beginning, there are a lot of friends.

Nano: That's because there was a game before the anime. It is not only the main character, but also the ten different characters that the viewer can relate to. MY LIBERATION" means "to unleash oneself" or "to set oneself free," and I think "CHENKURO" is a work in which you can feel freedom in many different ways.
