Report on the second day's stage greeting for the animated film "Slaughterhouse Organ" arrives! Event "The World of Keisuke Ito" will be held on February 16!
The official report from the second day of the stage greeting has arrived from the anime film "Slaughter Organ" now in theaters.
The animated film "Slaughter Organ" is one of the three works of "Project Itoh", a series of theatrical animated films adapted from the original novels "Slaughter Organ" and "Harmony" by Keisuke Ito, who died prematurely in 2009 at the age of 34, and "Empire of the Dead" by his close friend, Akutagawa Prize-winning author Tou Enjou, who completed the remaining 30 pages of the novel's preface. This is one of the works in the "Project Itoh" series. The production was suspended and the release of the film postponed due to the bankruptcy of the production studio, but the new studio "Geno Studio" established by Koji Yamamoto, the chief producer of the film, took over the production after that.

Yuichi Nakamura as Clavis Shepard
─ How do you feel now that the film has finally opened to the public?
I know it's been a long time coming for those of you who have been looking forward to seeing the film, but I myself wanted to see it as soon as possible and was looking forward to seeing it in theaters. I thought about going to the theater on the opening day yesterday, but I decided not to, because I didn't think it would be a good idea to have a guy who was in the movie on the first day in the theater (laughs).
(Laughs) - About his character Kravis
He is a soldier by profession, but he, his best friend, and the other members of the stage are ordinary, realistic, and neutral people. I think they have the same sensibilities as the people watching the movie. (I think there is a part of Kravis that is drawn to John Paul (played by Mr. Sakurai), not just as an object to be captured for a mission, but as a man (whether that is good or bad). How he is influenced by him is the "heart" of the story of "Slaughterhouse".
─ If you had to describe this work in one word, what would it be?
When I first read the original story, my first thought was "death. The thoughts about death, the view of life and death... In the film, many people die, and each person has his or her own way of dying. I think this is not only a negative thing, but also a depiction of the "way of thinking about death. I myself have not lost anyone close to me, such as parents or friends, and I am still a bit fuzzy about death, but Clavis, the character I played, is on a mission and is facing "death" in a very real way.
Takahiro Sakurai as John Paul
─ How do you feel now that the film has finally been released to the public?
Many things happened, so I think some people are more relieved than we are to be able to stand here and see the film without any problems (laughs). (Laughs.) The recording sessions were held the year before last, so I am deeply moved by the experience. The best part of a movie theater is to see it with a lot of people, so I hope you will enjoy watching it.
─ About John Paul, the character you played in the film
After seeing the film, I think everyone's impressions and impressions of the character will be different. He is a mysterious man who is called the "King of Slaughter" in the film, and his title may make him seem dangerous, but he is essentially a man who appeals to people and makes them think. He is a man with many facets that I still can't put simply, "This is the kind of person he is. He is a character that can be read in depth or taken at face value.
─ If you had to describe this work in one word, what would it be?
I might try to use serious words to describe it, but I guess I would say "true feelings" or something like that. There are words that you think in your head but don't say. Such "true feelings" are hidden in plain sight. Perhaps that may be Mr. Keisuke Ito's "true feelings" as well.
