On Monday, March 13, the final day of the "Tokyo Anime Awards Festival 2017," an awards ceremony was held to announce the award-winning films and winners in each category.
The Tokyo Animation Awards Festival (TAAF) is an international animation film festival organized by the Motion Picture Association of Japan and co-sponsored by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. The final day of the event, March 13th, was the first day of the four-day event.
On March 13, the final day of the event, an award ceremony was held at Toshima Center Square, a multipurpose space on the first floor of the Toshima Ward Office in Tokyo, to announce the award-winning works and winners in each category. The winners of the "Animation Merit Category," which had been announced in advance, took the stage, and the winners of the "Competition Category" and "Animation of the Year Category" were announced and presented with awards.
First, the winners of the "Animation Merit Award" took the stage. Now is not the time for people to be fighting each other on the earth. If we don't do our best for the future, the planet could be destroyed. I think animation has that aspect (of appealing a message)," he said, speaking of his message for the future.
Yoko Maekawa, known for her animation songs such as "Cutie Honey" and "Space Cobra," sang her debut song "Hyokkori Hyotanjima" a cappella, enlivening the audience.
