Fight Your Fate! Yukikane Nishizawa's long-awaited first album "Break Your Fate" is a powerful rock album
From powerful rock numbers to heartfelt ballads, Yukinana Nishizawa has released four singles since her debut, each time attracting more and more attention. Her first album, which many fans have been waiting for, has finally been completed! The title "Break Your Fate" is both the title of the lead song and the theme of the entire album. She turned 20 years old this past February, and this album represents her passionate thoughts and feelings that she can only sing now.
Break your fate," which was the title of a song, became the theme of the entire album.
──Your first album "Break Your Fate," I was surprised by the visuals for the album before actually listening to the sound. Your hair was short and you had a lot of eye appeal.
Nishizawa: When we decided on the title for the album, "Break Your Fate" is a phrase with a strong message, so I thought I had to make sure I didn't let myself be defeated by it. I also decided to cut my hair because I wanted to have more freedom in my performance when singing intense songs.
─ ─ The photo of you holding your guitar in front of the wire fence was really cool.
Nishizawa Thank you (laughs). It has an American feel to it, and I like it myself. In the booklet of the album, there is a photo taken in Germany, and I wanted to bring out that exotic feeling in the main visual for the album. I think the photos turned out just as I imagined for "Break Your Fate.
───How did you start working on the album?
Nishizawa: Only the lead song, "Break your fate," was finished quite some time ago, and the other new songs were produced intensively from last fall through January of this year.
───All seven new songs are written by Nishizawa-san, aren't they? Was it difficult to produce them in such a short period of time?
Nishizawa: Yes, it was very hard (laughs). Not only the schedule, but I also wanted to narrow down the lyrical theme of the new songs to a single "Break Your Fate" in my mind. It was difficult to write lyrics that followed the theme but had a different world view.
─ First, there was the song "Break your fate," and then it expanded into the theme of the entire album, right?
Nishizawa Yes, that's right. Break your fate" is a tie-in song for a game called "Arad Senki," and when I wrote the lyrics, I never thought it would become the title of the album. When we decided to make an album including this song, I had an idea that it would be interesting to make one album with the theme of "Break Your Fate". From there, we began to create the album in concrete terms.
─ ─ "Break your fate" is truly the lead song of the album. What kind of image did you have in mind when you wrote the lyrics?
Nishizawa: "Arad Senki" is a game with a cool, rough worldview, and I felt the same roughness in the songs written by West Ground. Therefore, I wanted to write the lyrics with the image of powerful words that strike you. I wanted to create the feeling of a battle.
─ The song is also very cool, isn't it?
Nishizawa Yes, whenever I hear a song by West Ground, I always listen to it with a pure "Cool! Whenever I receive a song by West Ground, I just listen to it thinking, "Cool! The melody and sound have a strong worldview, so I naturally associate them with the lyrics. This time, for example, I definitely wanted to say something powerful in English at the beginning of the song. That's how I came up with the lyric "Break your fate.
───That is how the title came to be.
Nishizawa: Yes. The main theme of this song is to fight "fate," or "destiny. For me, the word "fate" has the image of "an escape route created by a weak heart. Even if something bad or sad happens, if you think that it is fate and there is nothing you can do about it, you don't have to do your best. I thought that was shameful. I think that fate is something created by our hearts, in other words, our own weakness. So the real meaning of "Break your fate" is to "fight against yourself. I wrote the lyrics while remembering how I used to tell myself to "fight, fight, fight" when I was about to give up in pursuit of my dreams.
─ ─ I could understand the secret of the strength of this album from what you just said.
Nishizawa: When I wanted to make "Break Your Fate" the theme of the entire album, I knew that I wanted the new songs for the album to absolutely rock. Besides, I think the first album is an important one for an artist, as it serves as a business card. In that sense, I wanted to sing rock songs.
─ ─ All of the new songs certainly rock.
Nishizawa: The songs collected for the album were all so appealing to me that I thought, "I can't wait to write the lyrics! I thought.
