It was announced that a new "Devilman" anime will be produced to commemorate the 50th anniversary of manga artist Go Nagai's career.

The title of this film is "DEVILMAN crybaby. The film is directed by Masaaki Yuasa, who is highly acclaimed for his unique style in films such as "Mind Game," "Ping Pong the Animation," "Yonagata Hanmyth Taisei," "Yoru wa tanashi arukete yo otome" (released on April 7) and "Yawnawareru no ryu no uta" (released on May 19).

Yohei Shintaku, producer of Aniplex, said, "Director Yuasa has created a new anime that should be depicted in the modern age, while maximizing the nuances of the original Devil Man story. We will take on the challenge of depicting intense violence and other expressions that only Netflix can deliver. Please look forward to "DEVILMAN crybaby," which will face Go Nagai's original work head-on.
An event featuring director Yuasa will be held at AnimeJapan on March 25, so don't miss it.

Go Nagai (original work)
When I heard about the anime adaptation of the original comic "Devilman," my first thought was "Are you going to finish it? (laugh). (laugh) I have great faith in director Yuasa, and I am confident that he will finish the project. How will the battle between Devilman and Demon be depicted and resolved in the animation? I myself am looking forward to seeing the animation of "Devilman" through to its conclusion, which may never be realized again.

Director Masaaki Yuasa
I never thought that I would be the one to animate the most shocking manga "Devil Man"! In order to reach the shocking development and spectacular final scene, which can be said to be the best in the history of manga, I am struggling daily to incorporate the spirit and essence of the original work into an "animation to be done now". However, since we are distributing the film, there are few restrictions, so we are going to go as far as we can! There is violence, eroticism, and gore, but in the end, it is all about love. Please look forward to it.

Kensuke Ushio (music)
I am pleased to be working with director Masaaki Yuasa on the anime adaptation of the manga "Devil Man. The team is working as one to bring the essence of this epic poem by Go Nagai into an anime without losing any of its essence. This is the first time since Ping Pong The Animation that I have worked with a director on a huge original work. I feel very honored to be working with the same team that I worked with then, and to be able to spend those passionate days again. As the director said, it is a work of "love". Please look forward to it.

Story
