Popular voice actress Uesaka Sumire has become a Ukiyoe.

The Ukiyoe Culture Production Committee, comprised of the Sankei Shimbun and others, will begin selling the ukiyoe "Contemporary Voice Actor Beauties: Uesaka Sumire," featuring voice actress Uesaka Sumire and illustrated by Ebata Risa, who worked on the animations "Macross F" and "AKB0048," this summer. Pre-orders for the limited edition began on March 15.

The "Contemporary Seiyu Bijinzu" project expresses the imagination of Japan's proud anime creators in the form of Ukiyo-e, a traditional Japanese woodblock print dating back to the Edo period, and transmits it to Japan and the rest of the world. Risa Ebata, a painter, depicts Sumire Uesaka in a graphic style that combines fluidity and adult sexuality, demonstrating the imagination of anime without regret. The project will also include a special "Uesaka Sumire Edo Aruki" photo shoot by photographer Tomoya Kimura.

Ukiyoe printing was commissioned to Keizaburo Matsuzaki (designated as an intangible cultural property by Arakawa Ward), and engraving was commissioned to Yusuke Sekioka (registered as an intangible cultural property by Arakawa Ward). The paper used is Echizen Ukiyoe Housho-shi made by Ichibei Iwano, a 9th generation Living National Treasure. The highest techniques, backed by history, will be incorporated in abundance.

The plan is to produce 200 ukiyo-e prints. Of these, 60 limited editions of the beautifully printed first prints will be available for pre-order (by lottery). As a bonus, a ticket for the "talk show + handover event" will be enclosed for those who pre-order, and the first 10 prints will come with the woodblocks used for the first printing themselves.
