First Blu-ray BOX of the anime "Saint Dunbine" to be released! 100-page booklet includes a new interview with Director Tomino.
The first Blu-ray box set of "Saint Dunbine," one of the most popular robot anime of the 1980s, will be released.
Saint Dunbine" is a TV animation series broadcast in 1983, directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino, known for "Mobile Suit Gundam" and "Legendary God of Ideon". A young Japanese man, Sho Zama, is summoned to the other world of "Baiston Well" as a "holy warrior" piloting the humanoid machine "Aura Battler". When Shaw learns of the ambitions of Drake Luft, a local lord who plans to rule not only Byston Well but also the world on earth, he boards the Aura Battler "Dunbine" and throws himself into the battlefield. Set in a full-fledged fantasy world, which was still rare at the time, this work has been highly acclaimed not only for its hard-hitting war drama story, but also for its unique character design by Tomoken Kogawa and biological mecha design by Kazutaka Miyatake, and is still very popular today. The story set in "Byston Well" has also become director Tomino's lifework, and this work can be said to be the starting point of the "Byston Well" saga that followed.
The first Blu-ray box set of "Saint Dunbine" will be released in two volumes.
Blu-ray BOX I" containing episodes 1 through 28 will be released on July 28, 2017, and "Blu-ray BOX II" containing episodes 29 through 49, three compilation works, and all three OVA episodes will be released on September 27, 2017, for 34,000 yen each (excluding tax).
In addition, "Blu-ray BOX I" will include a booklet with new interviews with director Tomino and staff, as well as the first audio commentary for "Dunbine" as a bonus.
BANDAI VISUAL CLUB will also release 'Blu-ray BOX I' with an original illustration by character designer Tomoken Kogawa and 'Blu-ray BOX II' with an original illustration by mechanical guest designer Yutaka Izubuchi. This is BANDAI VISION. Please check the BANDAI VISUAL CLUB website ( # ) for more information.
