Straightforward about what they want to do. The new album by Kyodan Kishida & The Meisei Rockets is completed!

KISHIDA Kyodan & THE Meisei Rockets have completed their new album "LIVE YOUR LIFE," which includes the opening theme "GATE~It's like the dawn" for the TV anime "GATE: Jiei he no Chi de, 斯く戦えり" and four other anime tie-in songs. For the new songs on the album, the band was conscious of delivering the sound and message they want to do now in a way that is easily conveyed to their fans. We asked Kishida, a key member of the band, to tell us all about it!

The world sucks, but I hope I can be cheerful at the end

─ This is your first album since "hack/SLASH" released on December 24, 2014.

Kishida: I wanted to make it a little easier to understand for everyone who listens to it. Overall, I tried to clarify what I wanted to say through this song. Then, at the end, I said, "I've said a lot of things so far, but that doesn't matter, let's be upbeat.

─ That was the last song, "Live My Life. This is the lead song of the album.

Kishida That's right. It was ichigo's idea to brighten up the end of the song, not mine. The world is generally a shit place, but if I can be cheerful at the end, I think that's all that matters. That view of life is included in this album.

─ ─ For Kyodan Kishida & The Meisei Rockets, is it unusual to have such a cheerful song like "Live My Life"?

Kishida: No, this song is more our original style. I think only our old fans know about it. After we started playing anime songs, we started to make songs for the works we were asked to play, and our image became that of a band with a hard sound. However, we wanted to let our recent fans know that we are on this side of the spectrum of what a band should be. I think there will be both people who feel that our musicality has changed and people who feel nostalgic for the way we used to be when they listened to this album.

─ ─ There is a good balance of single songs and new songs for the album, but I think the new songs are more indicative of the position of Kyodan Kishida & The Meisei Rockets.

Kishida: I think the new songs have a different impression from the single songs. The single song is flashy and can stand on its own, whereas the new song is more about my current orientation.

Kishida──You mean you tried to do what you wanted to do?

Kishida Yes, especially in the first song "Kibou no Uta" and the fifth song "Nameless Survivor," I think I was able to create songs that reflect what I wanted to do.
