Post-recording interview
─ What was your impression of the work "Clockwork Planet"?
Aino Nanjo (*Nanjo) who plays the role of Naoto Miura: I thought the world of rebuilding the entire earth with gears was novel and very fantastic. The delicately drawn gears are also very beautiful and attractive.
Ai Kakuma (*Kakuma), who plays the role of Luz: Naoto-sama is wonderful. Naoto-sama is very active. Naoto-sama is ponko-...cute.
Saori Onishi (*): The city is composed of gears.... I thought it was a work with a mysterious taste that I have never seen before.
Kenichiro Matsuda (*Matsuda): I was excited by the worldview that the earth is regenerated by clockwork. When you regenerate the earth, you have to use huge gears that are more than several kilometers long. On the one hand, it is frightening to think that I would be living on such a huge gear, but on the other hand, it is also very exciting.
Ayaka Sengoku (*Sengoku) who plays Uncle: I thought it was very interesting that the world is reconstructed with gears! I also thought the pairing of the mechanical girl and the main character was really cute!
Please tell us about the character you play. Also, what did you keep in mind when playing the character?
Nanjo: Naoto is a pervert (laughs).
Perhaps I feel this way because he is straightforward and honest like a child when it comes to the things he loves. And the fact that he has the capacity to swallow reality and accept it as reality makes me feel his masculinity even though he looks so young. When I play the role of Naoto, I am conscious of his perversity, cuteness, and glimpses of masculinity.
Kakuma: I think only of Naoto-sama, work for him, and devote myself only to him. I also try to do so.
Onishi: Marie, whom I play, is another main character in contrast to Naoto. She often works with Halter. Marie is a childlike character with emotional ups and downs. However, she has many faces, such as speaking elegantly or as a leader who brings everyone together. She is a smart girl, so it was difficult to understand what she was saying, but I tried to understand her well when I played her.
Matsuda: Halter is a very reliable man with a full body prosthesis. He has lived for quite a long time, and his words and sarcasm have a depth that reminds us of his age. I also sense in Halter the reserve and austerity of a man who has accumulated a variety of experiences. I always try to bring out the best in him.
Sengoku: Ankur is the younger sister of Lüs and an automata girl. I tried to bring out the differences between Ankur, who is controlled, and Ankur who is not, as well as her childlike nature!
Nanjo:Do you feel that there are any similarities between yourself and the character?
Nanjo: My output is not as flashy as Naoto's, but I think I have a low boiling point where I get excited about things I am interested in or like. In my case, I secretly raise my excitement in my mind except in front of people I know well (laughs).
Kakuma:Lewis is perfect both inside and outside, so it is difficult to find similarities between us. If I had to pick one thing, it would be his voice.
Onishi:I think she is able to show her vulnerable side to people she trusts and is close to! I think Marie is really lucky to have Halter (laughs).
Matsuda: Unfortunately, there is no similarity. I am not as reliable or manly as Halter...
Sengoku: The similarity...is it the hair? (laughs) No, but I have a surprisingly childish side to me, too, so there may be some similarities between me and Ankur in that respect!
Nanjo: Do you have a favorite scene or line from your performance?
Nanjo: The scene where I meet Luz for the first time. I'm looking forward to the scene where the sun shines on the still-awake Luse, which is going to be very mysterious.
Kakuma: Of course, all the conversations with Naoto-sama.
Onishi: My favorite line is "I never think something is impossible. I thought it might be an implication that Marie was telling herself that something was impossible. But I felt it was a very encouraging phrase.
Matsuda: I like all the scenes with Marie. I really enjoy seeing the relationship between the two of them. As for the line "I've been dead for a long time. It's a very cool line that hints at Halter's spectacular past.
Sengoku: The scene where Naoto became Ankur's master and gently wrapped Ankur in his arms, telling Ankur that he could do as he pleased...that's when Ankur's feelings that he had been suppressing came out! I think the scene with Mr. Luse after that was also wonderful!
─ Is there any character other than the one you played that you are interested in?
Nanjo: I would have to say Luse. I like Marie, Halter, Uncle, and Dr. Conrad, but I am interested in Luse because he shares my feelings with Naoto.
Kakuma: It's Naoto-sama. His expression changes often. She is cute.
Onishi: This is Halter. Great, I love characters who are like sidekicks! It's been a while since I felt moe for a dandy character (laughs).
Matsuda: It's Marie, after all. She is Halter's pride and joy.
Sengoku: Naoto...Naoto played by Nanjo-san is so cute and !!!! She is the best!
──This work is set on an earth that has been reconstructed with gears, and various automata (automata) appear in the story.
Nanjo: I want it to do everything around me (laughs).
Kakuma: I would like a kind and cute automata that does the housework, listens to me, and teaches me various things! I don't think I can stand her if she is toxic... I am by no means a critic of LEWIS. Because Luse belongs to Naoto-sama. Halter is also wonderful!
Onishi: I want an automata that makes a nice cup of tea and stays by my side gently. I want a girl who can provide a relaxing space.... Or even a grandfather butler!
Matsuda:An automata who would quickly carry me to work.
Sengoku:What kind of automata...I would like an automata who is good at massaging people! (laughs) I want her to rub my shoulders (laughs).
─ ─ Finally, do you have a message for your fans?
Nanjo: I think it will be a very beautiful and fun production.
The conversations between the cast members on the set are interesting, and I am sure this good atmosphere will be conveyed to the audience. I hope you will enjoy the atmosphere of Naoto and his friends as they get to know each other better as the story progresses, as well as their growing teamwork, along with the beautiful world of gears and automata. Please look forward to it!
Kakuma: I hope that watching Naoto, Luz, and Marie Halter and their friends face various crises in their own ways will help you develop a positive attitude and the desire to never give up. I also look forward to hearing how you are enjoying the show and what you think of it.
Please give my best regards to "Clockwork Planet.
Onishi: I think it is a work with a really well-balanced combination of seriousness and gags. Of course, there is also moe! Marie is the one who struggles with herself the most, so I hope you will pay attention to that part of the story and enjoy the anime.
Matsuda: Each and every one of the staff and cast members are like cogs in a wheel, working together to create the "Clockwork Planet" anime! I hope that both readers of the original work and the comics, as well as those who are experiencing this work for the first time through the anime, will enjoy it. I hope that both readers of the original work and the comics, as well as those who are new to the anime, will enjoy it!
Sengoku: The anime is very well-paced, and there is a lot of fun and cool stuff in it, such as the dialogue between Marie and Naoto, Lüs's sense of venom, Halter's cool and austere personality, and so much more! I hope you enjoy it! I hope you all enjoy it!
