Report on the first recording of "Kotodama Radio," a radio program created by the voice actor unit "NOW ON AIR" with high school students in Kamakura!

In commemoration of the August release of "Kimi no Koe wo Todokeitai," an anime film set in Kamakura, the radio program "Kotodama Radio" will begin broadcasting on April 5, 2017 (Wednesday) at 23:00.

Kimi no Koe wo Todokeitai" is an original theatrical animation work by Madhouse, which has produced numerous animations including "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" and "Chihayafuru. It depicts the adolescence of high school girls in Shonan. The director is Naoyasu Ito, the screenplay is by Manabu Ishikawa, the original character design is by Toshinao Aoki, who is known for designing yuru-characters, etc., and the cast consists of new voice actors unit "NOW ON AIR" and Suzuko Mimori, who were born from the "Kimikoe Audition" held in the summer of 2016.

In commemoration of the release of the anime film "Kimi no Koe wo Todokeitai," this radio program features the members of the voice acting unit "NOW ON AIR," who play the main characters, and local high school students from Kamakura.

Everyone has a "voice" that has a power not found in e-mail or SNS. The concept of this program is to deliver the power of words in the hope of making people believe in the power of voice once again.

The first broadcast was recorded at Kamakura FM, the broadcasting station, on a certain day in March. This time, we report on the recording!

Each time, two members of "NOW ON AIR" appear on "Kotodama Radio" to serve as guides. For the first time, Misako Iino, the leader of the group, and Yuki Tanaka, who had just graduated from high school, appeared as guides.

Before the recording, a meeting was held with members of the broadcasting club of the local Kamakura High School. At first, the students seemed nervous about the prospect of working with voice actors, but they seemed to gradually loosen up thanks to the homey studio atmosphere and the friendly personalities of Ms. Iino and Mr. Tanaka. In an atmosphere of complete openness, the recording session finally began.

The program started with a talk by Ms. Iino and Mr. Tanaka. In keeping with the concept of the program, the two talked about episodes in which they felt the "power of words. Iino-san shared his own experience, saying, "I was wondering if an ice cream shop would open, and one opened in my neighborhood. I'm looking forward to summer! I'm looking forward to summer!" she said with a smile as she talked with Ms. Tanaka.

In the middle of the program, guest high school students appeared on stage. Perhaps because they are close in age, the two "NOW ON AIR" members got into a lively conversation about school and family. The topic was "What is Kotodama? The high school students asked the students, "What is the spirit of words? The audio of the interview was played back. Iino-san and Tanaka-san listened intently to the high school students' sincere answers about the concept of "Kotobuki," which they are not usually aware of. I am sure that everyone was inspired to think anew about the things we use in our daily lives called "words.

In the last part of the program, a "message to be delivered through radio" was read out. In addition to the listener messages that had been solicited on the program's official website in advance, the two members of "NOW ON AIR" also delivered their messages. Ms. Iino delivered a message to her family, and Ms. Tanaka delivered a message to her grandmother, expressing gratitude and love for her family, which she usually cannot say to their faces.
