Production of the second season of the TV anime "Osomatsu-san" has been announced.

Osomatsu-san" is an original anime produced to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the late Fujio Akatsuka's birth.
Based on "Osomatsu-kun," a gag comic published by Fujio Akatsuka in "Weekly Shōnen Sunday" in 1962 that became an explosive hit, "Osomatsu-san" depicts a future where the six children have grown up. The series became a popular title for its aggressive gags and parodies, the portrayal of the six children's diverse personalities, and the use of popular male voice actors.

The decision to broadcast the second season of the TV anime was announced on April 6, 2017 (Thursday) during a new episode of "Osomatsu-san Spring National Great Senbatsu Screening Festival," which was screened in advance in six major cities across Japan. The broadcast date has not yet been decided.

The second season will be directed by Yoichi Fujita, with series composition by Shu Matsubara, character design by Naoyuki Asano, and animation production by studio Pierrot.
The six children will be played by Takahiro Sakurai as Osomatsu, the eldest son; Yuichi Nakamura as Karamatsu, the second son; Hiroshi Kamiya as Choromatsu, the third son; Jun Fukuyama as Ichimatsu, the fourth son; Daisuke Ono as Jushimatsu, the fifth son; and Miyu Irino as Todomatsu, the youngest son. Director Fujita commented, "It may seem like something else, but I think it's wonderful that a program bearing the name 'Fujio Akatsuka' can continue to be produced.
