Who is the writer you respect the most?　Whenever I was asked this question, I always answered that it was Fujiko F. Fujio. Science and philosophy are succinctly incorporated into stories that can be enjoyed by both adults and children, and as you laugh and cry, they are deeply engraved in your mind. I have always longed for such a "slightly mysterious" world. When I made a film like "What is your name? and when I wrote novels such as "If Cats Disappeared from the World," I always used Mr. F's world as a benchmark.
When I received an offer from Fujiko Productions to write the screenplay for "Doraemon the Movie," I first wanted to bring a new and royal Doraemon to the children of the 21st century and to the adults who used to be children. The motif I chose was "Treasure Island. I wanted to depict an adventure story that has been read and passed down through the years in the world of Doraemon. And when the news of a "new island" in the Pacific Ocean came to mind, a story came to mind.
The title of the film is "Nobita's Treasure Island," which is the shortest title since "Dinosaur," but I have tried to fill it with a vivid and royal story. Now, a film is being born with the strongest staff assembled. We hope you will look forward to the "New Treasure Island" that will be born next spring.
