Official report on the summer anime "Love and Lies" and its advance screening and preview has arrived!

The official event report of the advance screening and preview has arrived from the TV anime "Koi to Uso," which will start airing on July 3, 2017 (Monday).

Koi to Uso" is a manga serialized in "Manga Box" (Kodansha, Weekly Shonen Magazine Editorial Department/DeNA) by Musawo. This popular work depicts the immature and fleeting forbidden love of boys and girls in a world where the Basic Law on Measures to Cope with the Decreasing Birthrate, known as the Yukari Law, is enforced, which notifies people of their marriage partners when they reach the age of 16.

On June 24 (Sat), an event was held at TOHO CINEMAS SHINJUKU, featuring an advance screening of the first two episodes with a stage greeting by the splendid cast members! Kana Hanazawa, who plays Misaki Takasaki, the heroine of the TV anime version, and Ryota Osaka, who plays Yukari Nejima, the main character, as well as the film's director, Masaoki Takuno, took the stage to talk about the highlights of the film in front of the audience who had already seen the first two episodes!

As the talk event began, Kana Hanazawa, who played the heroine Misaki Takasaki, commented on her role: "I felt like, 'Oh, Misaki-chan is good! I felt like 'Oh, Misaki-chan is good! I think the sweet and sour feeling of being in the midst of adolescence and the aggressiveness of the character are wonderful," she said, showing her love for the character she plays.
Just as the talk was getting exciting, a special guest, Aoi Morikawa, who plays the heroine Aoi Nisaka in the live-action film version of "Koi to Uso" scheduled to be released this fall, took the stage as a surprise guest! The audience cheered with surprise and joy at the appearance of this surprise guest! Aoi Morikawa, who says she has always loved anime, expressed her joy about her appearance at the event by saying, "I am very happy to be standing between these two today.

An advance screening of the first two episodes with a stage greeting by the production staff was also held at Hitotsubashi Hall on Monday, June 26! The original author of the work, Mr. Musawo, was on stage to greet the audience! He was joined by Kenichiro Shinohara, the editor in charge of the work, and Takayoshi Takeuchi, the producer of the TV anime "Koi to Uso" (Love and Lies), for his first appearance on the stage. At the talk event, he talked about his favorite scenes from his perspective as the creator of "Koi to Uso" and the hardships involved in making the anime. ■What is your impression of your own character?
Kana Hanazawa:
When I watched the episode during the V-check for postrecording, I felt "Oh, Misaki is good! I felt like "Oh, Misaki-chan is good!
I think her sweet-sourness and positivity in the midst of adolescence are wonderful.

Ryota Osaka:
Neji also has a positive attitude. It's just that Mr. Takasaki responded to me more than I expected (laughs).
I want to play with him, but he plays with me.

What was the deciding factor in casting?
Director Seiki Takuno:
There are two elements in this anime, "love" and "lies," and I thought it would be especially difficult to cast someone who could express "lies" well, so I cast someone who could express "lies" well.

What were some of the difficulties in playing the role?
Kana Hanazawa:
The character I played, Misaki, is a big part of the "lie" part of "Love and Lies," and it was difficult for me to play that subtle part.

Ryota Osaka:
First, get rid of all the individual characters. It was difficult because I was asked to be as unobtrusive and restrained as possible.

Kana Hanazawa and Aoi Morikawa: What are your impressions of each other?
Kana Hanazawa:
I wondered how it was for you because you played the role of Hana Midorikawa in the drama, which I played in the anime "Jailhouse Gakuen," and it was a very difficult role for me to play in a good way.

Aoi Morikawa:
I really like anime, and I am very happy to be standing between the two of them today. I am nervous because I was playing the role that Mr. Hanazawa played in the anime "Jail Academy" in the drama.

■What do you think about the "Yukari Law" that allows the government to decide who you marry when you turn 16?
Kana Hanazawa:
You are 16 years old, right? That's a fun time to fall in love! I think 16 is too young, though it would be nice if the government could introduce me to a marriage partner after I turn 35 (laughs).

Ryota Osaka:
If I were you now, I would say, "Please give me a partner!" I mean welcome. I think the omiai system was a good thing. I can't go on my own (laughs).
(laughs) At 16, I think it's too early. He is in the prime of his youth.

Director Seiki Takuno:
I can put up with the rule of no love, and love is not love (laughs).

Aoi Morikawa:
I agree with you. I was reading the original story again, and it seemed to me that it would be difficult to fall in love with someone who was not not notified by the government.
If that is the case, I think it would be better to have a government notice to decide for you so that you can lead a happy life.

Kana Hanazawa:

I really couldn't stop reading the original story once I started reading it, and I hope that I can express in the anime the feeling that each character has a different lie and that I can't stop wondering what will happen to them. Please also look forward to seeing if the mysteries in the original story will be revealed.

Ryota Osaka:
I have also read the entire original work. I didn't intend to read the whole book, but once I got to the third volume or so, I couldn't stop reading and kept thinking, "What's going to happen next? I read all the way to the latest book.
I'm trying to play a realistic love story. I hope you will watch the show until the end, because there are exciting developments waiting for you week after week.

Director Seiki Takuno:
There was a kiss between Neji and Misaki in the first episode, and there will be many more kisses in the future. We are depicting them well with kisses according to the occasion. Please take your time and enjoy it.

Aoi Morikawa:
I was really happy to be allowed to stand here. I really wanted to stand here after watching the anime, but I couldn't make it, so I will watch the anime broadcast every week starting July 3.
After watching the TV anime, the live-action version will also be released. It is another story, different from both the original story and the anime, a new "Love and Lies". I am sure that everyone will enjoy this work, so please watch it.

Dr. Musawo:
I am very happy that so many people will be able to see the story I was thinking about while walking my dog by myself in the form of an anime.

I'm sure you have faced many difficulties, but what have been the most impressive ones?
Musawo sensei:
I had failed once in a romantic comedy competition in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine, but I really wanted to draw this story, so I talked with the person in charge again, studied what went wrong and what I should do, and tried to enter the "Manga Box" competition. It was tough.
I drew what I would have wanted to do if I were a high school student.
