Alice and Koraroku," a crying sci-fi fantasy that aired from April to June this year, drew a great deal of attention for the heartwarming interaction between a young girl and her grandfather. To wrap up the broadcast up to the final episode, a review screening of episodes 1 and 6 and a talk show were held at Shinjuku Wald 9 in Tokyo on Saturday, July 8, 2017. Guests on stage included Hitomi Owada, who plays Sana Kashimura, Akio Otsuka, who plays Zoroku Kashimura, and producer Tomoji Matsukura.

After the screening of episodes 1 and 6, the three guests took the stage. Each gave a few words of greeting, and the talk show began immediately.

When asked about his audition for the role of Sana, Mr. Owada said, "It was a one-shot audition without any tests, so I gave it my all, but I remember going home in a daze, not feeling any response. That is why I was really happy when I was chosen.

About the role of Sana, Ms. Matsukura said, "It is no good to be too good at acting, so at first I was thinking of playing a child actor instead of a voice actor.

But in the end, it was unanimously decided on Ms. Owada at the casting meeting," he continued, praising the "grandchild-like" impression that Ms. Owada exudes. On the other hand, Mr. Otsuka, who played the role of Kuraroku, said that he was not auditioned but nominated. "When I was offered the role, I didn't know the title or what kind of role I would play, but I just knew the name of the sound production company and that it was a one-cour TV animation. The audience laughed and voiced their surprise. Matsukura then said, "Actually, at first I resisted Mr. Otsuka's choice to play the role of Kuraroku. Mr. Otsuka had the image of a good-looking character, so I wondered if I could ask him to play a regular old man.I was a little worried until we recorded the first episode (laugh)," he said. Matsukura summed up his feelings by saying, "The mixture of severity and gentleness was just right, and I felt very comfortable with him," and said that the casting of Mr. Otsuka went well.

Ms. Owada shared a valuable episode from the recording session, saying, "I had a hard time putting together the melody myself to match the length of the song. Since this was a retrospective talk, we decided to ask about the memorable scenes in the second part after the sixth episode.

Matsukura said, "Nowadays, it is very rare to make an anime in which Ryu Naito, played by Hochu Otsuka, can say, 'It's a good world if the children are healthy. It was a scene that made me think it would be really cool for an adult to be able to say this. Matsukura added, "I've been working on this anime for a long time to get to that point." He cited as his favorite scene a scene in which the important theme of this work, "an anime in which adults rush in when children are in trouble," comes to fruition beautifully.

The fun event came to an end with a raffle for a gorgeous present.
The talk and screening of "Alice and Zoroku" came to a close with comments from the three guests to the fans who had come to the event.
