Palmon and Tentomon make their debut! Super Evolution Stage "Digimon Adventure tri.: The Adventure of August 1st" rehearsal site report

Digimon Adventure tri." is a sequel to the TV anime "Digimon Adventure. Set three years after the final battle against Belial Vandemon in "Digimon Adventure 02," the six-chapter film tells the story of Taichi Yagami and the other "chosen children" who have grown up. The film is directed by Keitaro Motonaga, with series composition by Yuko Kakihara and character design by Atsuya Uki.

The latest film, "Chapter 5: Symbiosis," is scheduled to begin theatrical screenings on September 30, 2017.

The first stage version of "Digimon Adventure tri.", "Super Evolution Stage "Digimon Adventure tri.: The Adventure of August 1st"", will begin on Saturday, August 5 at Zepp Blue Theater Roppongi in Tokyo.

In this production, the partner Digimon of the "chosen children" are represented by dolls. The special day of "August 1" is depicted as a special day between the chosen children and the Digimon brought to life by the Hitomiza, a long-established puppet theater with the Hitomiza as the puppet mastermind.

Kenichi Tani, an up-and-coming director who has worked on such high-profile productions as the script for "Pluto PLUTO" and specializes in a wide range of works, from serious stories to comedies, and is highly regarded for his skillful portrayal of characters and original stage direction, will be in charge of the puppets, brought to life by the long-established puppet theater Hitomi-za. Digimon and the "chosen children" have been practicing enthusiastically.

An open rehearsal was held in Tokyo on Tuesday, July 18, prior to the performance.

Nine members of the main cast, including Gaku Matsumoto as Taichi Yagami, Shohei Hashimoto as Yamato Ishida, Ryoka Morita as Sora Takenouchi, Kaminari Kamimura as Mitsuro Izumi, Marina Taue as Mimi Tachigawa, Junya Komatsu as Takeshi Kido, Kenta Nomiyama as Takeru Takaishi, Oona Shigeishi as Hikari Yagami, and Olenography as Etemon, attended the open rehearsal. The nine cast members participated in an open rehearsal, and after the rehearsal, an interview was held with the cast members, where they talked about the highlights of the production, their impressions of the rehearsal, and their enthusiasm for the performance.
