AnimagiC 2017 Episode 1 EU Premiere Event Report
On August 3, director Taichi Ishidate and Mr. TRUE arrived in Mannheim, Germany, where AnimagiC2017 will be held. They immediately attended a welcome party by the AnimagiC2017 organizers.
The next day, Director Ishidate used the time before the opening ceremony to tour Mannheim. Director Ishidate took pictures as he looked around the city.

On August 5, the second day of the event, the EU premiere in Germany finally got underway. The EU premiere in Germany finally got underway. The venue was filled to capacity as soon as the doors opened, and the MC called for Director Ishidate and TRUE, who sings the OP theme song, to take the stage. The German fans gave them a big round of applause. Director Ishidate said, "I am very happy that this is the EU premiere so that Europeans can see "Violet Evergarden" for the first time," and TRUE said, "Violet Evergarden" is about "being alive" and "words. I hope you enjoy the screening of the first episode today. Please enjoy the screening of the first episode today.

After the screening, Director Ishidate and TRUE appeared on stage again to loud applause and cheers. The director asked, "I hope everyone enjoyed the show. to which the audience responded with loud cheers and applause. Director Ishidate then spoke about his thoughts on "Violet Evergarden," which is currently in production. I hope that through the TV series, the viewers will be able to watch the naive protagonist, Violet, grow up together with the audience. TRUE, who wrote and sang the theme song, said, "Violet has an immature mind and is like a newborn baby. I wrote the lyrics while weaving each word very carefully, just as she learns each word one by one.

In the Q&A corner that followed, Director Ishidate and TRUE answered questions from the audience who had just watched the first episode.
"How did Director Ishidate become an animation director?" He answered, "Japan is a country where so many animations are broadcast every day that you would be surprised, and I naturally watched a lot of animations since I was a child. When I thought about what kind of work I wanted to do as an adult, I naturally decided to work in animation because I love images and drawing, and I had been familiar with animation since I was a child," he answered.
When asked, "How do you feel about creating a work with a worldview inspired by the European sphere?" Director Ishidate replied, "Up until now, Kyoto Animation has produced many works set in Japan, but it was very difficult to create a work with a European background, such as here in Germany. I have been using photographs and other materials as reference for my work, but I am glad that I actually came to Germany this time."

When asked what inspired her to become an ani-song singer, Ms. True replied, "Like the director, I have loved anime since I was a child and have always watched it. Anime teaches me things that I could never experience myself. I wanted to do something related to anime, so I decided to become an ani-song singer. And as an anime song singer, I am very happy to be able to sing at AnimagiC2017," she commented.

"Why did you decide to show an anime that has not yet aired in Japan in the U.S. and Germany ahead of time?" When asked, "Why did you choose to show the animation that has not yet been broadcast in Japan before in the U.S. and Germany?" he replied, "Even in Kyoto, I feel that people from all over the world are interested in Japanese animation. I think that the unique Japanese style looks interesting to people from overseas, and since "Violet Evergarden" is based on a European background, I think it is a very easy work for people from overseas to watch and understand, and very easy to get into. That is why I wanted to make this world tour so that many people around the world could see this work (Director Ishidate)."
"What do you pay attention to when singing anime songs?" I often sing Japanese anime songs in a very loud voice. The power of the work is so great that I try not to be overpowered by it and sing with more power in my vocals (TRUE).

The Q&A session with the audience came to an end. Next, a rock-paper-scissors tournament was held with the director's and TRUE's autographs up for grabs, and the audience was very excited.
The EU premiere of "Violet Evergarden" was a great success, with the audience, Director Ishidate, and Ms. TRUE all smiling from start to finish.
