From VR experience to Gunpla and even Pretty Cure!　Both adults and children can have fun♪ "C3AFA TOKYO 2017" venue report

C3AFA TOKYO 2017, a major character and hobby event, was held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture for two days on August 26 and 27, 2017.

This event had been held as "Chara Hobby C3×HOBBY" until last year, but from this year it was integrated with Anime Festival Asia (AFA), one of the largest Japanese pop culture events in Southeast Asia, and held as "C3AFA TOKYO 2017.

The event offered visitors a chance to experience a wide variety of pop culture, including anime, games, character goods, plastic models, garage kits, and cosplay, as well as elaborate hands-on and participatory events. Among the many people who visited the event, here are some of the things that particularly caught Akiba Research Institute's attention.

Kao Corporation

Another feature of C3AFA TOKYO 2017 is the wide variety of companies exhibiting booths. Kao's men's grooming brand "Success" is collaborating with Gundam to celebrate its 30th anniversary. Purchasers who purchase products and enter the contest will be entered into a drawing to win an original color model Gundam plastic model, original miniature color paper, and other prizes.

Sony Music Group

The actual "Demon Homura: Rebellion 1/8th scale figure," which is currently available for pre-order at ANIPLEX+, and "Fate/Grand Order" Avenger Jeanne d'Arc [Alter] (currently no longer available) were on display.

There was also a hands-on corner for the "Jump Rope Jumper," a children's attraction planned and developed by Kidstone. The idea is to make a rocket in the screen fly by jumping rope faster and higher with a special gadget attached to the waist. I tried the "adult" mode, but I couldn't reach the goal and was exhausted after 30 seconds of jumping rope. ......

Animation "Chronicle of the Gods

Lord Medjed descended on "C3AFA TOKYO 2017"!　Apparently, he will be telling fortunes. Mejed-sama shook and shook, and then he put out a paper like a fortune on a basket. Written on it was "I recommend the Medjed-sama mascot to prevent bad drunkenness". ...... Yes.

BANDAI

A serious collaboration between Japan's largest wooden furniture manufacturer, Karimoku Furniture, and Mobile Suit Gundam!　The throne of the supreme treasure of the Principality of Zeon, King Degin Sod Zabi, is recreated here. Sales have not yet been decided, but if and when they do go on sale, the price will be a matter of concern, as this is a gem that has been meticulously crafted with great care.

Even if you can't reach the throne, you can relax with the fluffy Bigg Zam. The "Hig Zam Cushion DX Big Zam" is so large that even an adult would have trouble holding it. The feet are slippers.

SANKYO

The SANKYO booth was something that everyone from fathers to children could enjoy. When visitors played coloring games or drew pictures of SANKYO's well-known characters, such as Yumemu-chan, their drawings were captured on the screen and moved around the screen in all directions.

There was also a hands-on experience of the VR content "Taikan Gassen 'AQUARION EVOL'" that can be played on PS4, which was distributed in March 2017.

Rumored (?) to be under development for a new machine There was also a standing statue of "Nobunaga the Fool" that is rumored (?) to be under development for a new machine. It looks cool!

AvanGarage

AvanGarage exhibited a road bike made by ZEONIC exclusively for Char, with a red body and a head badge by Kunio Okawara, who has designed many mobile suits. Unfortunately, orders are no longer being taken, but a second project is currently underway.
