<Second Screening of "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Reflection" with Staff Talk

On August 31 (Thu), the second screening with staff talk of the blockbuster hit "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Reflection" was held at Midland Square Cinema in Nagoya and Namba Parks Cinema in Osaka.
The first screening, held at Shinjuku Piccadilly in Tokyo on August 17 (Thursday), was so well received that the second screenings in Nagoya and Osaka were decided to be held as well. As with the first event, the speakers were Akio Mishima, general producer; Yusuke Hatanaka, animation producer; Takayuki Hamana, director; Kazunari Aragaki, chief animation director; and Osamu Sakata, chief animation director.

In Nagoya, the talk show was held before the screening of the film, so the talk started with a joke that those who were concerned about spoilers should cover their ears.

Mr. Hamana, who became involved in the "Nanoha" series for the first time with this film, said that when he received an offer from Seven Arcs to direct the film, he requested to wait one week to hear back from them, but was told to return in three days. However, after receiving a warm "Hamana-san, you can do it!" and he decided to work on this film.
When asked by the moderator how he felt when he saw the completed film, Mr. Hatanaka replied, "I was motivated to make the second part! I was motivated to make the second part!

The talk moved on to the next topic, but Mr. Sakata suddenly interrupted with a behind-the-scenes story.
In the scenario and in the script, it was written that Amitié was bound in a sexual way, so he discussed the scene with the director, and after considering the relationship between the sisters, he came up with the right balance. They decided to make it a salty one.
The moderator asked, "Could you have made it more sexual if you wanted to? Mr. Sakata quickly and energetically responded, "Of course! to which Ms. Sakata immediately responded with a cheerful "Of course!

Ms. Niigaki talked about Nanoha's amazing ability to instantly assess the situation even when she is in a pinch during battle. She said, "The entire film depicts that she never wavers in her determination to achieve her goal, even if it means risking her life. I think this will be depicted in the second part, Detonation, so I hope you will pay attention to Nanoha! He spoke with such passion that Ms. Mishima unintentionally said, "Your words are so good, please pretend I said them (laugh).

Next, the conversation turned to a scene that was particularly close to Hamana's heart. "The scene on the highway is also the beginning of the action scene, and I drove the car myself to get an image of it before drawing the storyboard," she said.

Mr. Mishima, who is also Nana Mizuki's music producer, said he felt a lot of pressure to write the song to be played during the Fate x Levy battle.
It was an emotional scene and involved complicated human relationships, so I really wasn't sure if I could handle it until it was completed," she said. That's why I was so thrilled when I received the finished film to be released to the public! I was so thrilled when I received the finished picture that I could release it to the public!

The audience was then invited to a prize-drawing event, as was the case with the first round of the festival. In addition to an assortment of all kinds of admission gifts and a B full-length Nanoha poster signed by Ms. Hamana and Mr. Mishima, Ms. Aragaki and Mr. Sakata presented a set of colored papers depicting Dierce, Stel, Levi, and Yuri, which made the audience very excited.

The talk by the staff members in Osaka, held after the screening on the same night, also started with full steam.

When Mr. Hamana revealed, "I thought I accepted the job (as director) knowing the good and bad points of the film (having been involved in other theater version films), but it was the hardest job (laugh)," Mr. Mishima replied, "There is no one else but you, Hamana-san! I was discussing with Seven Arcs from the early stage, and we were trying to figure out the best way to bind Ms. Hamana," he said.

Ms. Niigaki then spoke enthusiastically about Nanoha's straightforward battle sense. "Since I lost the first time, she always flicked the switch to save me (laughs)," she said, quoting a memorable phrase from the work, enlivening the audience.

Mr. Sakata then told a wonderful story about how he himself shed tears while drawing the scene in which a character cries. However, he told us that while he was trying to be close to the emotions of the characters, about 10% of the time he was crying because he was thinking, "Give me more time! The audience laughed again.

The scheduled time for the event was long over, and the audience was rushing to the drawing for gifts. There were two kinds of colored paper at this event: one was a group of guardian knights and the other was Amitié. The winners also received a round of applause.

In his closing remarks, he thanked everyone again for coming and asked them to look forward to "Detonation." In fact, Mr. Hatanaka had another purpose for coming to Osaka: to thank those who helped him with the production of "Reflection. Mr. Niigaki said, "I would love to work with you again! He seemed to be steadily preparing for the release of "Detonation" in 2018.

In closing, Ms. Mishima said, "Nanoha is a work created by the love for Nanoha in different forms." I felt that the respect and gratitude not only for the staff members who took the stage that day, but also for all the people involved in the work and the fans, will create a more passionate and moving work called "Nanoha".

The work will be newly released in theaters from September 9, so we hope that you will enjoy "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Reflection" from beginning to end, taking into consideration what was said at this event.
