Spring 2017 Anime

Ms. Onoe plays Jean-Pierre Silberstein, the master of the genius patissier Kiraboshi Ciel during his training in Paris, who has been extremely popular with children since his first appearance in the June 11 (Sunday) episode. He is a passionate character who loves sweets so much that he devotes his entire life to them.

Like the character he plays, Mr. Onoe himself has a hobby of making sweets and loves them so much that he produced his own original sweets in 2014. That is why he was selected for the role.

Mr. Onoe is a talented actor who has been active not only in the Kabuki world but also in a wide range of genres, including stage, drama, and film, since he made his first Kabuki performance at the age of 5. Even in recent years, despite his first attempt at voice acting in the Disney film "Moana and the Sea of Legends," he has received great acclaim from audiences and has demonstrated his ability in voice acting as well. This is the first time in history that a Kabuki actor has participated in the "Pretty Cure" series, so it will be interesting to see the sweets boy of the Kabuki world play a major role in the "Pretty Cure" world.

The comments from Mr. Onoe and Keisuke Naito, the producer of the film, are as follows.

Cast and staff comments】(*Titles omitted)
Matsuya Onoe (as Jean-Pierre Silberstein)
I was very happy and surprised to receive an offer to play the role of Jean-Pierre Sylberstein in a popular animated film called "Pretty Cure". I was also very interested to hear that the main theme of the film was "sweets," which I like very much, and to be able to catch a glimpse of the process of making sweets in the film. The character I play, Jean-Pierre, is a very passionate man who faces sweets head-on and devotes his life to mastering them. I like sweets from a different angle, as a "eater" and Jean-Pierre as a "maker," but as a man, I sympathized with his passion for what he loves! I would like to endeavor to make the character of Jean-Pierre more endearing to Precure fans as well.

Keisuke Naito (Producer of the movie version)
We asked Matsuya Onoe to play the role of Jean-Pierre Zilberstein, a genius patissier who is the mentor of Ciel, a key character in the movie and a bit of a strange genius. Matsuya Onoe is known as a great lover of sweets, and I heard that he loves sweets so much that he has even produced his own sweets, so I thought he was a perfect choice. Jean-Pierre, as mentioned earlier, is an important character and may demand a difficult performance. However, when I saw another animated film in which Matsuya Onoe had appeared, I was attracted by his overwhelming presence and acting ability, and I thought that he was the only choice! I was so impressed by his overwhelming presence and acting ability that I decided to offer him the role. Kabuki in Japan and sweets in France. I am looking forward to seeing the wonderful chemical reaction between the cultures and traditions of each country.
