New single "Diesuki x nai" is the same song as usual Pyxis!
Pyxis, the unit of Moe Toyoda and Miki Ito, has released its second single "Diceki x nai"! This song is based on the light novel "I entered the school to become a swordsman, but my aptitude for magic is 9999! (GA Novel/SB Creative), about the relationship between two main characters who are rivals but love each other. The lively, girlish lyrics and pop, bouncy sound made the song "life-size" for Pyxis. Moeshi and Mikku talked to us all about the new song!
The moment I heard the song, I was overwhelmed by the momentum of the song and thought it was perfect for "Mahoteki! I thought!
─ The 2nd single "Diesuki x nai nai" is based on the light novel "I entered the school aiming to become a swordsman, but my aptitude for magic is 9999...". (Mahoteki for short), right?
Toyota: Yes, it is. We also appeared in the "Mahoteki" drama CD, and the recording of the drama CD had already been completed when we recorded "Diesuki x nai nai". So it was easy for me to imagine the content of the lyrics, and I was able to sing the song in the Pyxis way, keeping the characters in the back of my mind.
Ito: The lyrics are linked to the feelings of the characters, so when I sang the song, I felt as if the characters were with me.
─ What kind of character are you playing?
Toyoda: I play the main character, a 9-year-old girl prodigy named Laura. She is a bright, energetic, and cheerful girl, and when it comes to battles, she is very strong. But she also loves omelets, which is typical of a 9-year-old girl.
Ito: I played Charlotte, Laura's rival and roommate at the adventurer school's magic department. She is a tsundere character from the outside and has both a desire not to lose to Laura and a love for her. She is cute and strong at her core, a girl you want to admire.
Toyoda: I thought "Mahoteki" would be a battle-based work, but when I opened the lid, I found it to be filled with heartwarming and yuri yuri episodes about girls. It was interesting to see the gap between the strong-looking title and the story.
Ito: There are plenty of yuri-yuri-yuri-yuki scenes in the Drama CD, and we were a bit embarrassed to act them out (laughs).
Toyoda: The drama CD is an incredibly cute story written by the original author, Mr. Taro Nenchu Mugicha. It was fun to play the role in this heartwarming episode that is completely dedicated to everyday life.
Ito: While there are many funny scenes, the climax of the story has a harrowing twist. I am looking forward to seeing how the fans of the original story will perceive our Laura and Charlotte.
Toyoda: When we decided to create an image song for "Mahoteki," we listened to several candidate songs, and the one that best fit our image was "Diesuki x nai. It had such momentum that I was overwhelmed the moment I heard it, and I thought it was "Mahoteki" in the way it overwhelmed me.
Ito: It was such a speedy song that when I was listening to it in a groove, I felt it was over in a flash (laughs). (Laughs.) I thought the song was energetic and uplifting, pop and cute, and a perfect fit for Pyxis.
