Eri Kitamura gives frank answers to fans' questions! Report on the event to celebrate the release of the new single "arcadia † paroniria

This is Eri Kitamura! On October 1 (Sun.), 2017, a release commemoration event was held at the Animate Ikebukuro main store's 9F event hall.

The content of the event was to carefully answer questions from Kitaerists (Eri Kitamura's fans) about the song. Although the answers sometimes took unexpected turns, the event served to further deepen the understanding of the songs and further prepare the audience for the solo live "Nightmare † Alive 2017" to be held on October 28, 2017 (Saturday).

Eri Kitaeri answered everything we wanted to hear!

When the event started, Eri Kitamura took the stage to loud applause.

She said, "I talked a lot at the event yesterday, and my throat is not tired, but after 30, my joints ache!　Eri Kitamura, who is like that, will do her best to re-live the event today as well! She started the event with a high-spirited declaration, "I'm Eri Kitamura, and I'm going to do my best again today! The content of the talk was to answer questions and doubts about the songs from Kitaerists who had been solicited in advance. From this point on, a very deep conversation unfolded. Mr. Hashimoto of TMS Music served as the moderator.

───This is a difficult title to say, but why did you choose the title "arcadia † paroniria"?

Kitamura: When I heard the demo, I thought it was symphonic and had a Mass-like, Gothic feel, but rather than being divine, I thought it had strong dark elements. And when I heard the chorus, the word "Arcadia" (ancient Greek for "utopia" or "ideal world") came to mind.

The deciding factor was the last part of the chorus. When I sang the last part of the chorus, ending with the vowel "a," I thought of myself singing at a gospel or mass.

When I thought about what I wanted to sing next, I realized that nightmares are scary, but I still want to see them, and that they have beauty, weirdness, and charm that I can't resist because I'm afraid of them. ......　I see! I thought, 'arcadia (ideal world) paroniria (nightmare)'. Then I wanted to make a cross, so I typed "symbol" on my cell phone and came up with this title.

─ When you write lyrics, do you often use fairy tales, movies, or other works you have been involved with as motifs?　Do you have a notebook for your stories?

Kitamura: I keep a notebook on my iPhone. I take notes on what inspires me every day. I also take notes of promotional messages in magazines, cosmetics copy, and other things I find interesting. I write them down to learn how to spell words, and I do it as naturally as breathing in and out.

The world of fairy tales is strongly influenced by fashion and makeup. I like products like Majolica Majorca (Shiseido's cosmetics brand) that are designed based on fairy tales and fairy tales, and I have also loved the "Alice in Wonderland" series of princesses since I was little. I was born with a love of classical and antique things.

Also, I once wrote an essay for my summer homework in elementary school on a book like "Grimm's Fairy Tales for Adults," and was scolded by my teacher (laugh). I was attracted to things that were poisonous, things that had an unofficial "Comiket" or "off-line" feel to them, things that were adapted from a twisted world. That's why a work like Arparo ("arcadia † paroniria") was one of the things I wanted to do, so I'm glad that my wish was fulfilled.

─ ─ What is the meaning of the mysterious English at the end of "arcadia † paroniria"?

Kitamura It is a third person's word, not mine, but in Japanese it means "The moon in darkness will shine brighter and scorch her body. Will her destination be paradise or a labyrinth? The story is not over yet. ......

───Did the costumes come from "arcadia † paroniria"?

Kitamura: When thinking about the costumes, the image of the music comes first, rather than the worldview of the lyrics. The main melody of "Arparo" did not have a large number of notes, so I thought it would be better to have a slick look, in the sense that I myself was singing cheerfully. Then, church. When I say church, I mean sisters. And when I say "sister," I mean "sis-eri," right? That's how it went (laughs).

The topic of conversation turned to the coupling songs and the contents of the next live concert.

I like the way you sing "TiCK TACK".

Kitamura: When I attack with the title song, I think I have to give them candy. I want to show them that I have a cute voice, too (laughs). I also like shuffle and jazzy songs, and I wanted everyone to clap your hands in style. I also wanted to call out "TiCK TACK" together to create a fashionable sense of togetherness at the live performance. I sang "Alparo" and "EDEN" with a voice close to my natural voice, but that's not all! He said. In order not to let people escape, I sang with a coquettish, devilishly cute taste instead of a chain called candy (laughs).

─ ─ About "EDEN"?

Kitamura: The song by the lady who sang the tentative song was so finished, it was so umm~no-no!　It was so finished that we were not allowed to do anything to it. I felt that I could not make it my own unless I digested it in the Kitamura style, but I asked her if I could just lower the key (laughs). As we lowered the key, bad guitar phrases started to appear. I think I asked for the guitar riff in the interlude of "EDEN" to be "downpicked" (laughs). I asked him to lengthen the guitar phrase, saying, "I want to drink water here, and make a section where everyone can shake their heads," and this was the first shot he gave me. It was the most tiring song on the single. I practiced it a lot at home.

Also, this song makes me nervous when I sing it!　I'm listening to the clicks, so I'm a bit of a jizo at the live show. So at the live performance on October 28, when the intro of this song comes, please be quiet! (laughter)

─ ─ About the live concert on October 28.

Kitamura: The live concert at the Mozart Hall at Katsushika Symphony Hills will have reserved seating. I was happy to be able to work energetically this year, and I hope that those who are following us will be able to enjoy our performances even within a short span of time, and not just say, "Oh, this again! I would like to prepare even just one new surprise or excitement for those who follow us, not just "Here we go again!
