I linked myself as I am with the artist May'n for the first time in this album.

May'n is releasing her first full-length album "PEACE of SMILE" in about four years. The album is filled with many of the singles released during that time, making it a great listen, but that's not all this time!　There are three limited first-run editions, each of which comes with a maxi-single containing two new songs each.
In this interview, we talked mainly about the new songs included in the album and the maxi-single. What emerged was a change in her own state of mind that led her to break through her cool artist image and want people to see her as she really is. I'm having the most fun right now! I was very impressed to see May'n smiling at the audience.

I wanted to sing a lot of new songs, so I made a maxi-single!

─ ─ This is your first album since "NEW WORLD" released on January 29, 2014.

May'n It's been about 4 years. If I say it's been a while, yes, but there was a best album "POWER OF VOICE" in between, so I thought there had been a 4-year gap.

May'n contains many singles released in the past four years, including "Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha," which was the opening theme for the TV anime "Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha. is the oldest one.

May'n Yes, that's right. The reason why four years ago seems so far away is because I went through a big change in my life during that time. I feel like I have entered a new May'n, or rather, a second chapter, and I was happy to be able to release a new album at that time, and I was very enthusiastic about it.

─ ─ I could really feel your enthusiasm. In addition to the full album, six new songs were produced as maxi-singles, which are included in each of the three limited first-run editions.

May'n If I put all the singles and existing songs together, the album would be full by itself. I wanted to sing a lot of new songs!　The staff made it possible for me to do so in the form of a maxi-single that comes with the first pressing of the limited-edition version.

─ ─ Moreover, each single has a completely different musical color, doesn't it?

May'n We collaborated with artists to create a theme for each single. The first artist we decided on was SALTY DOG for the "C" album. The band composed the single "Belief," and they kept calling me to create May'n's next live number. So this time, they wrote a song about the bond between friends, which is what a live number is all about.

─ "Amicitia" and "Banggin' Your Head". Both were intense rock numbers.

As the head of the May'n Rai Club, I wanted to take everyone to more and more places and cherish the bonds I have with my current friends, which was incorporated into the lyrics and sound of the songs. When I was recording the song, I could clearly picture myself singing it live, and on the other side of the booth, I could see the members of Salty Dog shouting "Yay! I could see the members of SALTY DOG on the other side of the booth. I was able to sing while feeling the audience.

─ ─ Which collaboration did you decide on next?

May'n It was Danni Miyagawa from the B-side. The theme of this single was "a happy love song that can be sung at a wedding. When I thought about how many of my good friends in my personal life had gotten married in the past few years and I wanted to celebrate, I realized that there were no songs in May'n's repertoire that could celebrate a wedding (laughs). The song "King's Cadenza," which he wrote for us, is very sensitive. I thought he understood the female heart better than a girl.

─ ─ "The King's Cadenza" is a coupling song of "One In A Billion," a collaboration single with Wake Up, Girls, isn't it?

May'n I fell in love with Miyagawa's world at first sight, and I knew that if I was going to write a wedding song this time, I definitely wanted to ask him to do it.
The two songs that came out of that were "Like the Hands We Layered On Top of Each Other" and "Atarashii shimai sora. The song "Like Our Hands Stacked on Top of Each Other" is a song of congratulation for a friend who has become happy, which is exactly what I wanted. Atarashii Sora", on the other hand, is a song about the moment when I myself started a new chapter in my life, and it contains a sense of happiness as well as a little bit of anxiety and determination for the future.
