6th single "c.o.s.m.o.s" released. This time, Marei Uchida looks mature!

Following the release of "+INTERSECT+" in June 2017, a new single by Marie Uchida is already available. The theme this time is "Liberation". The title track, "c.o.s.m.o.s," was written and composed by Sho Watanabe and arranged by Mito (clammbon) to create an urban dance tune. In addition, the jacket photo, taken against the backdrop of a nighttime city, shows a more mature look than ever before. Along with the contents of the new single, we asked Ms. Uchida to look back on this summer, which was filled with various events!

The summer of 2017 was a summer of lots of singing!

─ ─ We interviewed you at the time of our last single "+INTERSECT+", so it seems like we met again without a pause.

Uchida Thanks for your help (laughs). The interval between releases was very short this time. "+INTERSECT+" was released in June, followed by the one-man live "+INTERSECT♡SUMMER+" in July, and in August I started working on "c.o.s.m.o.s." With the music video and jacket shooting, I was working all summer. I was totally devoted to "c.o.s.m.o.s." all summer long.

─ But you also performed at Anisama in August.

Uchida That's right. Not only at Anisama, but also at "TV Asahi Roppongi Hills Summer Festival SUMMER STATION," I sang a lot during the summer.

─ The Blu-ray and DVD of "+INTERSECT♡SUMMER+" will be released on November 29, right? Looking back, how was it?

Uchida: I had only done one-man live concerts in winter, so I was happy to be able to hold them in summer. Moreover, it was at Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall in Tokyo, so it was my first time to do it in the summer, outdoors, and in the rain.

─ ─ The open-air concert on a summer night has a different atmosphere, doesn't it?

Uchida: At the concert, I covered RC Succession's "Ameagari no Yozora ni" (In the Night Sky After the Rain). It stopped raining just before the concert started, so I was very impressed with the timing. I was also very comfortable being so close to the fans at the concert. When I watched the video of the concert later, it looked like I was having a lot of fun (laughs). (Laughs) And then I sprinkled water on everyone.

I didn't know I could do such a thing (laughs).

Uchida Originally, I was just going to shoot water guns at everyone, but the staff prepared something like a water-pressure pump (laughs). (Laughs.) The audience in the front got pretty wet. But it was fun~~ (laughs). I felt like I had a new weapon.

───Did you do something at the Osaka venue as well?

Uchida: Osaka was a hall, so we couldn't spray water there, so I asked the stage manager for a different weapon. He prepared a CO2 gun that emitted cold gas, which we sprayed vigorously on the audience. And since I was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans during the encore, I was told that I looked "really strong" and "like Rambo" (laughs).

─ ─ That is a wonderful summer memory (laughs). On July 31, you were also a reporter at the "Hawk Festival" (Fukuoka Softbank Hawks vs. Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters) at Tokyo Dome, weren't you?

Uchida That's right! I had been saying how much I liked the Hawks, and I was asked to be a reporter. I was very nervous to meet all the players, but I was very moved. The Osaka concert was on the 29th, so I came back to Tokyo and immediately started working as a reporter, so the end of July was packed with big events.

─ At Anisama, there was the topic of performing with ZAQ and Uesaka Sumire.

Uchida: The three of us sang "Sparkling Daydream" together. The movie "Chuunibyou ga Koi ga Shitai! ZAQ told us to do the same movements as the characters in the monitor images, such as twirling their fingers and shaking their hips, so the three of us did it together (laughs). (Laughs.) It was a summer with a lot going on. It was really fun.
