Hiroka Iguchi & Kana Asumi "You can see what everyone wanted to see! OVA "Yamanosume Omoide Present" Screening Commemorative Interview
The OVA "Yamanosume Omoide Present" ("Omoide Present") will begin event screenings on Saturday, October 28, 2017. This film is a visualization of the second season of "Yamanosume: Second Season" after a lapse of about three years.
Omoide Present" is attracting attention both as a story that will continue into the third season of the TV anime scheduled to air in 2018 and as a story about Aoi and Hinata and their friends that has not been depicted in a long time. We asked Yuka Iguchi (who plays Aoi) and Kana Asumi (who plays Hinata) about the highlights and their thoughts on the work.
You can learn more about Aoi and Hinata!
--How did you feel when you heard that "YAMANOSUSUME" would be made into a movie again, about three years after "YAMANOSUSUME: THE SECOND SEASON"?
Yuka Iguchi (Iguchi): I was very happy. After the recording sessions were over, I continued to talk about the work on the radio and at events, and had opportunities to meet with fans, so I kept saying on stage that I would never give up on the third season (laughs). Thanks to everyone's continuous support, the OVA and the third season were made possible, so I am filled with gratitude.
--I am very thankful for your support, because the original work is still going on. I think everyone was looking forward to the next anime adaptation.
Iguchi: That's right. In these days when new anime are announced every day and the guesses keep changing, I am very happy that you continue to like "Yamanosumé", climb mountains, and keep in touch with the work.
--How about you, Ms. Asumi?
Kana Asumi (Asumi): I am happy because I myself love this work and I am sure that it is a good work. I wanted to believe that there was no way there would be a continuation, and although there has been a bit of a gap, I am relieved to finally be able to make this happy announcement, thanks to the fans who have been eagerly waiting for the third season during that time. I was relieved to finally be able to make this happy announcement. I am glad to know that we live in a world where good works like this can continue to be produced (laughs).
--What do you think of Aoi and Hinata?
Iguchi: This time, when we recorded "Omoide Present," we were able to see a new expression on Aoi's face. She is most like Aoi when she is talking with Hinata on a one-on-one basis. She is not shy and her unpretentious Aoi personality is in full bloom, and I think she is a lot like me.
In this OVA, I found new things and similarities between us, and although I am not the same as the other Aoi, I feel that I have gained even more depth.
--What exactly do you have in common?
Iguchi: The coarseness of the ...... conversation with Hinata? (Laughs)
Asumi: What do you think you are? (Laughs)
Iguchi: The scene where Aoi, who is shy and tends to spend her free time alone, meets Hinata is depicted from Hinata's point of view. I myself met Asumi-san, and I feel like I am being pulled along while she is pulling me along, so I think the relationship between Aoi and Hinata is similar. I can also sense her "cheatiness" in her conversations. Aoi seems shy and weak, but surprisingly, she is not like that (laugh).
Asumi: She is very tactful, isn't she (laughs)?
Iguchi: She has the strength of a youngest child, or a younger sister. I thought we are similar in that we are both surprisingly deft.
--What is Hinata like for you and do you see any similarities?
Asumi: I feel that there is shyness in the role, and I like Hinata more and more compared to my first impression of her, and I feel that I am getting closer and closer to her. That is one of the strengths of having played the role for so long, and I am grateful for that.
I am not the type of person who can get into other people's bosoms without hesitation, so I was envious of Hinata. But now I see that Hinata is a girl who thinks things through and is aware of her surroundings, and my impression of her has changed.
Iguchi: Especially in "Omoide Present," this aspect is depicted very well. I thought the cast was the right combination.
--You didn't think so before?
Iguchi: People tend to say that I have a more Hinata-like personality and Asumi-san has a more Aoi-like personality.
Asumi: As an image, yes.
Iguchi: But now that I've gotten to know the characters better, I think that Hinata has more depth because of Asumi's ability to look around and see things from an older sister's point of view. I also felt that Ao and I are similar in that she is frightened and seems to be thinking about her surroundings, but in fact, she is not so frightened. The only difference is that I don't climb mountains (laughs).
Asumi: Ha-ha-ha! That's the only difference (laughs).
--by the time Aoi reaches the top of Mt. Fuji in the film, .......
Iguchi: Until that time, we will not give up climbing mountains! (Laughs) "Third term eagerly!" I have been saying this for a long time like Long before the first term started, Asumi and I went to Mt. Takao together, but we took the cable car up then.
Asumi: At that time, we were in the mood for an outing (laughs).
