The TV animation series broadcast in the 1970s recorded the highest viewer rating of 30.4%, and has gained a large number of fans around the world. Kitakyushu Pop Culture Festival 2017, one of the largest pop culture events in Kyushu, was held in Kokura, Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, from November 4 (Sat.) to 5 (Sun.), and focused on manga, anime, games, and other pop culture.

At the festival, a giant bust of Mazinger Z was displayed for the first time in Japan, and advance tickets for the movie version were sold at a special booth with special offers only available in Kitakyushu, prior to the nationwide release of the movie. The "Special Talk Show" and "Special Live Performance" of the film were held on the main stage on the 5th (Sun.), where more than 800 fans from all over Japan gathered.

The special talk show began with fans shouting "Mazinger Z!" and was attended by voice actors Kappei Yamaguchi (Mucha), Mirai Ito (Mazinger Girls), and the film's producer, Hiroshi Kanemaru.

When the latest trailer of the film version, which was unveiled for the first time in the world at this event, was shown for the first time in the world, fans were excited and applauded the new storyline!　Fans were excited to see the new storyline and applauded with excitement!

I was very nervous today because it was the first time in the world that I sang the theme song of a movie version live!　Next year I will celebrate my 50th anniversary. I am so happy to sing the theme song for the movie version of "Mazinger Z/INFINITY" at such a time. I have sung this song more than 10,000 times over the past 45 years, but I must not change the old feeling of the song, but it must also be new. I had this conflict, but for me, I was able to sing the song with exactly the same fresh feeling as when I first recorded it in the studio back then. I hope that the film will be a big hit and that I will be able to sing this song again for decades to come. I am filled with gratitude."
