The official report of the "Wimpy Pedal" 3rd season episode screening event Vol.2
On November 11 (Sat), the famous episode screening event Vol.2 of the third season of the TV series was held at TOHO Cinemas Nihonbashi in preparation for the broadcast of the fourth season "Weak Pedal GLORY LINE," which will start in January 2018. In this second event, episodes 16 "The Second Inter-High" and 17 "Start! which depicts the opening of the national tournament, "Inter-High. The talk show featured Daiki Yamashita, who plays Sakamichi Onoda, and Kosuke Toriumi, who plays Shunsuke Imaizumi, both of whom are active in these episodes.
The first TV series of the anime "Weak Pedal" began in 2013, but this was the first time that these two alone participated in an event in Japan. This was the first time the two of them had participated in an event together in Japan since the first season when they participated in an event overseas.
Looking back on his memories of the first postrecording session he participated in, Mr. Yamashita said that he had just started his career as a voice actor, and that he felt so much pressure going into his first postrecording session that he thought, "I couldn't have been more nervous. Seeing Yamashita in such a state, Toriumi and the other senior members of the cast described the scene of the recording: "I could feel the tremendous tension, and everyone was watching it with warm eyes.
Sakamichi and Imaizumi, played by the two actors, have known each other for a long time, having appeared in the first episode of the first season. Imaizumi is the one who discovered Sakamichi's talent and gave him the opportunity to get involved in road racing. Looking back on the intense race scene between Imaizumi and Sho Midosuji (voice: Koji Yusa) at the Inter-Highs when the two were first-year students in the first and second seasons, Toriumi said, "I remember that scene because I challenged Midosuji by giving the best I could at that time.
In the third season, in which Sakamichi and the other students become second-year students and are depicted as a new generation, many new members have joined the cast. However, the new members are all Yamashita's seniors in terms of voice acting. He commented happily on the addition of Yuma Uchida (who plays Yuto Shinkai), the only junior member of the cast.
In the main story, Sakamichi is in a slump after his respected senior, Yusuke Makishima (voiced by Shotaro Morikubo), leaves for England, but is inspired by seeing Teshima and Reed Kiba running hot and returns to a positive attitude in an important scene, and Imaizumi after seeing Terufumi Sugimoto (voiced by Yuki Miyata) run hot in the first-year race for the Inter High, The talk also covered the growth and changes of the characters in the third season, including a scene in which Imaizumi raises his voice unusually loudly for others.
Yamashita commented on the memorable scene in episode 17 shown on the day, when the Sohoku team all fists meet just before the start of the inter-high competition, saying, "Sohoku is a well-balanced team. Yamashita commented, "Sohoku is a well-balanced team, and I felt once again that none of us should be left out.
Starting with its first season in October 2013, "Weak Pedal" has grown into a long-term series that will begin its fourth season in January 2018. When asked about the reasons for this and the appeal of the series, Yamashita said, "The way the characters take on a challenge and work hard at it makes people passionate every time. It gives me the power to live my life like this." Toriumi said, "I think that everyone can feel the true and straightforward feelings of the characters. The characters in the show are true to themselves, and it is a work that is unchanging, right in the middle of the royal road. I think that this is a good match for the current era.
In the last part of the talk show, a question-and-answer session was held for fans. In reference to the scene in which Sakamichi's nervousness is relieved when he is approached by Kazu Aoyagi (voice: Sadayoshi Matsuoka) just before the start of the inter-high school competition, Toriumi was asked about how he relieves his nervousness. Toriumi answered, "I don't get nervous very often. Even when I do get nervous, I know what I can do, so I give up. On the other hand, Yamashita answered, "I get nervous easily, but I try to enjoy the event, including the nervousness.
When asked if there were any aspects that had changed between the two of them since they started working together as "colleagues in the first season of the "WIMUSHUME PEDAL" series, Yamashita replied, "I am easily nervous, but I try to enjoy myself, including my nervousness, even at this event. Yamashita-san was puzzled by the word "synchronized" when asked, "Have you seen any changes in each other since the first season? Toriumi, who is supposed to be his senior, emphasized, "We are in the same class," and the talk proceeded.
Toriumi, who has been watching Yamashita since his first audition for "Wagamushi Pedal," commented, "As we have worked together, he has become more solid in a good way, and his back has become more dependable without the instability he had in the beginning.
Yamashita-san commented, "Toriumi-san is just so kind! Also, I have had the opportunity to drink with her recently, which I didn't have the chance to do during the first season, and I am glad to see her in a different mood when she is a little drunk. Toriumi commented on Yamashita's growth.
As a final question, he asked, "What is one thing you like about Shokichi Naruko, played by Jun Fukushima? I will cry and rejoice. Yamashita-san, please answer three." When the character-specific question was announced to be from someone with the somewhat familiar pen name "Jun-san from Ehime Prefecture," the audience broke out in laughter.
In response to this question, the following were given as answers: "He looks intuitive but actually has a clever side" (Toriumi), "He is friend-oriented, cheerful, and a mood-maker! (Yamashita), and "Naruko is just a good guy! (Yamashita), and "Naruko is just a good guy!
The event concluded with a message of thanks to all the fans in attendance.

Message from Daiki Yamashita
I'm really looking forward to the 4th season of "GLORY LINE". I believe that the feelings of everyone who is waiting for this work will give me power during the recording sessions. I hope that you will continue to run with me in the future.
